Thermio was known in the 70's for remixing the Barron Knights so that they could be looped on Ampex 459 tape.
The up-tempo, comedic nature was synonymous with the 'speedskates' at roller discos all over East Lancashire, predominantly the YMCA in Blackburn and is widely acknowledged to have been the source for Kraftwerks Tour de France.
Thermio says, "One day, as a kid, I got blisters on me feet from the hired roller skates so went to the toilets to have a look and , if I'm honest - a cry. In there already was the DJ, he took one look at my tear stained face and told me that I could  have a go on his twin Garrard SP25 two deck set-up if he could see my winky. I showed him my little fella, he disappeared in the cubicle and off I limped to slap on some Kids from Fame. It was there that I realised I was addicted to the adulation of the crowd when spinning vinyl. I didn't know what all the knobs did then but after several weeks, and thanks to the DJ developing repetitive strain injury in his wrist, I'd practised enough to master the controls. To get to where I am now I thank God that I possess the skills, a good ear and a pretty penis."

It is not widely known that during a school trip to Japan, Thermio visited the Sony factory where mini-disc and its digital compression technique known as ATRAC was invented after the board of directors saw Thermio's tinky when he accidentally went into the executive washroom.
During a trip to Rhyl sun centre one summer, Thermio met with David Bowie in the changing rooms. Whilst Thermio was squeezing into his younger brothers trunks ("My brother got sick after eating too many Texan bars on the coach down and I'd forgot to bring my trunks so I borrowed his. I think David was impressed with the 'width 10m' badge sewed on. I couldn't swim for shit but only I knew") it attracted the attention of Mr Bowie and all the good records he ever did were attributed to that meeting.
