Since mid-2020 Cliff Dalton has been influenced by 80’s soundtracks. setting about to create a blend of dark robotic mechanical and deep electro. As an artist, his use of conceptual themes is constructed of elements that create dense atmospheric soundscapes. Probing as an interface between harsh reality and pure fiction. He reveals a surrealistic emphasis on sonic particles into the realms of electro.

The Dutch West Coast, home of the Hague, where Cliff Dalton resides, the home of a new producer for Specimen Records 2021. Although not new to the world of producing with several years of recording and playing in studios, his attention to detail has helped him develop a retro mapping onto his perception of the future. Possibly influenced by Underground Resistance and Drexciya. This accomplishment becomes a metaphor for any small group of people who are battling against a system. The album is an observation of what’s happening right now around us. Our interaction with technology and media pervasion and the rise of cybernetics, in a world dominated by corporate ideals.

This comes with a more danceable approach. The beat is tight and the swing is irresistible. This is how it’s like to float around, in the ocean, or in your mind. It is all watery business. The melodies are really lifting this tune-up and remind me of old black ‘n white sci-fi flicks.

“Immrama'' is an exploration of unfamiliarity inspired by Flyora’s past. As it is his debut he establishes his broken-down sound and style which emerged from his varied lifelong influences.

“First Encounter” goes right in with its massive bass and conversation-like squelchy elements, setting a strong electro starting point for the project to evolve from.

“Nebulous” pushes the sound to a more moody place thanks to its broken pads and leads, yet it keeps up its driving energy throughout.

“Defunct” opens up with a massive build-up into another unforgiving and breakneck beat pushed by the warped percussive parts and synths.

“Malfunction” marks a tonal shift in the project while keeping the signature tortured synths and samples. The atmosphere gets thicker and the bass gets deeper as we transition into the second half of the project.

“Earth Paradise Club” overloads the listener with its nostalgic pads and one-shots while exploring familiarity and longing for things to go back to normal.

“Crash Landing” was accurately described by a close friend as “feeling like dumping my face in a bucket of gravel”. Unregular drums, haunting bells, and disturbing noises make the track ooze unfamiliarity.

Szymon Jurak (Flyora), is a Polish dj and producer based in Belfast, Northern Ireland. I have been producing for about two and a half years now, and I finally reached the confidence to try and put out a track or two. I have been making electro and electro influenced tracks, tending to keep things distorted and in your face - similarly to Serge Geyzel who I discovered through Specimen Similarly I have been really into the Eastern European side of electro - specifically AnyAct, Get Mioud and Re:Drum. I try to bring some of that EBM-ish edge to some of my productions in the playlist below. Other than that I love any type of heavy, distorted and broken sounding music - artists like Pilo, Baseck, Nikki Nair or Michael Foreshaw - all of which had an effect on the way I produce. I had a track released earlier last year on Fly By Night Recordings "Locked Up" VA - which got support from False Persona and Dave Clarke, two amazing personalities which I did not expect to find my music at all.
