Franz Scala’s sets are as diverse as the music he curates as label head of Slow Motion.
Weaving smoothly between Italian Dance, Psychedelic Disco and Proto House, Franz quickly turns the dance floor into a vignette-tainted retro nostalgia rave fueled only by his music. 
Born in Italy and now a resident of Berlin for a decade Franz has his roots in noise rock and electronica but was led by the record collectors passion into acquiring a taste for modern and not so modern dance floor music.
He frequently inspires dancers in clubs all over Europe with his eclectic blend of spacey House, New Wave, Italo and Acid speckled with hints of Electro and Chicago House. 
Aside from producing on his own imprint, he has releases on World Unknown, Bordello A Parigi, Bahnsteig 23, Tusk Wax, Mechatronica or Discodromo´s Cocktail d’Amore Music.
Franz is link to many events around the german capital such as the monthly Wrong Era, Italian Dance Wave and Italorama night in Panorama Bar, Magic Waves or New Dance Fantasy Festival.
Beside long time collaboration with Sameheads he is regular dj at Griessmuhle and Salon zur Wilden Renate. In 2013 he joined Dimitri SoEmotional in the “Studio Luce” project

PREMIERE – Luksek – Disco galattico (Prinze remix) (Boots & Legs)

Italian DJ and producer Luksek (Luca Guarducci) puts out a new EP featuring two original tracks, Flash Soda and Disco Galattico. This EP delivers a euphoric, high-energy Italo sound perfect for igniting dancefloors. Complemented by remixes from Paris-based artist Prinze and Italian electro-disco powerhouse Alberto Melloni, this release celebrates disco’s past, present, and future.

When I discovered Boots & Legs, I was immediately drawn to their artwork—it’s fresh, joyful, and reminiscent of Todd Terje’s latest album,” says Luksek. “After hearing their music, I knew my tracks would fit perfectly. Testing them in Berlin and Vilnius confirmed it: these songs light up the dancefloor. I’m thrilled to be part of this label!”

The Flash Soda EP blends Luksek’s signature Italo-disco style with modern production techniques, offering a nostalgic yet forward-thinking sound. The EP's standout tracks:

About the Remixers:

Prinze: The Paris-based artist and head of Epicure Records brings his eclectic touch to Flash Soda. Known for blending acid, trippy house, and cosmic disco, Prinze reimagines the track with a psychedelic twist, offering a remix that’s both hypnotic and energetic. A fixture in Paris's nightlife, Prinze has performed at iconic venues like La Java, Le Mazette, and Les Bains, solidifying his reputation as a champion of musical eclecticism.

Alberto Melloni: Co-owner of Raibano Records, Alberto Melloni infuses Disco Galattico with his signature electro-disco flair. With a background as a guitarist and synth player, Alberto seamlessly combines elements of disco, afro, techno, and rock, creating a remix that is dynamic and genre-defying. His solo work continues to make waves in the European electronic scene.

Beyond The Struttosphere blast back into orbit with the release of ‘Planet Ogo’ on Discolypso. The title track is inspired by progressive trance and fuses a driving chug bassline with a hypnotic 303 sequence, distorted techno stabs and a trifecta of meandering arpeggiators, creating a wormhole through space and time. Thunderous power chords and nuanced percussion layering guide the track towards a cosmic void, echoing with mind-bending vocal samples from the cult sci-fi film ’12 Monkeys’, before a high-voltage crescendo transports you to the Planet Ogo. Remixes are provided by two masters of the scene: South Korean cosmic disco royalty, Shubostar, applies her trademark sound, introducing playful melodies, kinetic arps and retro-futuristic synths that elevate its seismic breakdown into outer space. Spanish new wave maestro, K-Effect, provides a more psychedelic contribution, weaving in tripped-out FX, clinical drum arrangements and low-end synths that propel the tune towards its ominous conclusion.

‘Cosmic Stuntman’, the second offering, is as intrepid as its name suggests. The first half is a minimalist soundscape defined by crunchy guitar riffs, energetic tambourines, cowbells and an array of spacey FX, before the second opens in throttle with a ferocious mid-range bass, cutting snares and cosmic pads that build in magnitude as the track reaches its spellbinding climax. Dionigi, alumnus of Italian cosmic sound movement, remixes the track into a low-slung chugger complete with glitchy vocoders that resemble scrambled UFO transmissions.

The EP concludes with bonus remixes of BTS back catalogue hits. ‘Replicants’, originally released on Mélopée Records in 2021, is resurrected by Berlin-based electronic rock n’ roll band, Tegel Boys, who transform the track into a krautrock-infused kosmiche space odyssey perfect for tuned-in psychic travellers. Mexican dark wave legend, Rigopolar, follows with a tranced-out remix bolstered by robotic arpeggiators and mechanical guitars that propel you to Mach-10. Completing the package are reinterpretations of ‘Storming Heaven’ which first appeared on Emerald & Doreen Recordings and pays homage to Jay Steven’s eponymous book on LSD and the American dream. Argentinian dark disco producer and member of Ralph Lawson’s 2020 Soundsystem, Julian Sanza, cranks up the funk and reconfigures the track into a Balearic sunset trip. UK godfather of chug Rich Lane isolates the original’s soaring guitar solo and reimagines the track into a mesmerising downtempo chugger tinged with psychedelia.

The main track of the EP comes in two versions: one as a cheeky nod to 90s radio pop with playful hooks, the other as an extended dub built for the dancefloor. 

Catchy vocals, driving bass, uplifting piano stabs, and dancefloor euphoria collide in this high-energy future classic, blending saeuer’s Techno and House roots with Freudenthal’s Dark Disco touch as well as Hey Cabrera’s top-tier Italo Disco expertise. 


The Extended Dub opens with a choir reminiscent of "Blue Monday," setting a hypnotic, dreamy atmosphere. As the track progresses, it transitions into an ecstatic euphoria, driven by a dazzling piano hook. Tailored for the dancefloor this combination promises to keep the crowd captivated and the floor moving.

Further echoing New Order, the Punk House Version drifts into an 80s Italo realm, layering a fuller arrangement with chorusing guitar and an airy vocal chant. The elevating bassline adds a subtle lift, giving this version a dreamy but still energetic feel while embracing the rich, melodic textures of classic Italo disco.

Bubs‘ take of the Punk House Version pushes into neo-Italo territory with synth sirens announcing its arrival before locking into the track’s catchy main melody. A massive snare and hitting toms drive the rhythm, keeping the energy high and the momentum sharp. Built for the dancefloor, this version dials up the intensity while staying true to its melodic core.
