Producer @azu-tiwaline works at drawing from her origins to find a new unique sound, taking inspiration from berberian & saharan trance music, as well as the relationship that develops between human beings and nature, through sound.

Berlin-based artist, Don't DJ aka Florian Meyer is an artist active at the junction of Music and Arts. He released works in various formats, most prominently vinyl records with Labels as Honest Jons (UK), Em Records (JP), Marriage (US), Berceuse Heroique (UK) and his own DISK/ANT imprint. He collaborated with many groups and individual artists and worked with institutions such as STEIM (NL), YCAM (JP), MUDAM (LU), ZKM (DE), SESC Pompéia (BR), Kyushu University (JP) and the Amsterdam Conservatory (NL). Florian is a member of the supergroup A.N.I (alongside Bear Bones Lay Low and Black Zone Myth Chant) and of the artist collective SEXES which realises installations and artworks while also serving as a platform/label for different formats.

This month we were joined by two exciting guests, Syed Mustafa Ali (https://www.open.ac.uk/people/sma78#tab2) from The Open University in the UK and Dan McQuillan (https://www.gold.ac.uk/computing/people/d-mcquillan/) from Goldsmiths, University of London. They are both interested in AI, technology, and applying a critical lens to the development of digital infrastructures and applications. They met at the Histories of AI Seminar at Cambridge University and found common ground through what could be described as Luddite orientation. It was this connection over Luddism that brought them together to have a cup of coffee and share ideas and a bit of subversive thought about the history and trajectory of AI. This conversation teases out what Luddism is in a historical sense and how it continues to play out today. We talk about the physical extractivisms associated with the architecture and infrastructure of digital space and the mental and power relations of algorithmization. We explore the form of resistance and intervention to digital extractivisms and the rollout of layers of digital infrastructures that extend and expand the colonial project.

Everywhere on TV and film these days, cameras rove down corridors of schools, asylums, prisons, hospitals and offices, drifting through this confined space with emotions that range from low-level anxiety to overwhelming dread. Yet the corridor, an architectural invention of the eighteenth century, was meant to be a model of Enlightenment, of rational order and the logical distribution of space.

Roger Luckhurst traces how these institutional spaces curdled in our fantasy life to become the locus of unease and horror, taking in evidence ranging from eighteenth century philosophers, via asylum and hospital design in the Victorian era, to present day horror films such as The Shining and It Follows.

Corridor Dread: A History of Institutional Fear

Educator, writer, public scholar and spoken word artist Walidah Imarisha explores the history of sci-fi and social change, sharing tools for using science fiction as a practice ground for social justice strategizing and vision. Imarisha is co-author with adrienne maree brown of Octavia's Brood: Science Fiction Stories from Social Justice Movements. 

This lecture was delivered at UMass Amherst on November 13, 2018 as part of the UMass History Department's 2018 Feinberg Family Distinguished Lecture Series, "Another World Is Possible: Revolutionary Visions, Past and Present."

Thanks for all the comments everyone! If I was wrong on the date, I apologize, I honestly didn't think I was still going to the Limelight after 1993 and thats why I dated it earlier. 

Yes the sound quality isn't the best but like I said I snuck in a Sony portable DAT recorder and recorded it straight from the crowd from the floor level right below the DJ booth. 
While I was outside on line, the security guard frisked me at the door and was like "what the hell is that? You can't bring that in here!" I told him its just a walkman and he let me go in with it. I'm lucky to even have this bad recording to be honest.
While we were waiting for his set, Richard James walked by me and this kid I was with and the kid stopped him and asked "hey my friend snuck in a DAT recorder, can we record right from your mixer??? RDJ just laughed in his face, said NO! and walked away. Haha.

Back in the early 1990s when techno was just starting to explode in NYC, I snuck a portable DAT recorder into the Limelight nightclub when Richard James, The Aphex Twin was DJing a very rare live set. I recorded his entire 1hr set from the crowd and then put the DAT away for 25+ years. The other day with the help of my friend Tony Rodriquez (LUV4WAX)and his DAT machine, we finally made a digital copy of the set and finally uploaded it for all to hear. As far as I can remember, RDJ did only 2 live performances (one performance blew out the power to the entire club and left the place pitch black and silent for a few minutes!) and 1 DJ set at the Limelight during that time. I have never heard a live set from RDJ from the Limelight so this might be the only recording of this set (please correct me if I'm wrong, thanks!) The recording is loud and noisy just like 90s techno but I think its clear enough to enjoy. If you can ID any tracks to create a track list, feel free to post it in the comments!
