Here we go.  I am a performer and an engineer.  I will be using this page to post things I have recorded, be it myself or others.  Here we go.

The Royal US is Heather Lockie (Vocals, Viola, Banjo, Noises), Max Kutner (Guitars, Percussion, Piano, Vocals, Noises), Brian Saia (Gadgetry, Noises, Sonic Dreamweaving) and Steven Kai Van Betten (Vocals, Guitar, Noises). The Royal US mines the wealth of well-traveled murder ballads, laments and sea shanties from the British Isles, continuing the tradition of folk in the 21st century through live electronic manipulation and extended improvisation. Recently, the Royal US has applied this treatment to some original pieces.

Though the group's primary source material is public domain, The Royal US discards  the act of preservation and homage altogether. This is modern folk as imagined by modern folk.

INSTAGON is a term coined to describe the SPONTANEOUS FACTOR, the essence of Chaos Theory... everything that happens in this universe changes instantaneously upon its creation... nothing stays the same... everything changes, and is gone in an instant... hence INSTAGON.

INSTAGON has performed LIVE, unrehearsed, no practice, fresh on the stage... just as much an experience for the BAND, as well as the AUDIENCE... for over 800 shows in the past 30 years, and has NEVER been the same group of people, or ensemble on stage ever... NEVER repeating... always changing... once it happens it is GONE... yesh, INSTAGON.

Dr. prOphecy sun is an interdisciplinary performance artist, queer, movement, video and sound maker and mother. Informed by her creative studies in vocal and movement improvisation, her practice celebrates both conscious and unconscious moments and the vulnerable spaces of the in-between in which art, performance, and life overlap. Her recent research has focused on ecofeminist perspectives, co-composing with objects and matter, extraction and surveillance technologies, and site-specific engagements along the Columbia Basin region and beyond.

My art practice involves sounds, images and things in-between.  Temporality is an ongoing theme.  Sounds, images and other media evoke different space-times; treating time materially, reflecting on phenomenological, psychic, technological, social and political realities.  My work often involves grids (regular and irregular), pulsed and free time, noise, drones, melodic material that ranges between static, meandering and narrative and directional, the use of voice (including so called “extended techniques”), sounds of indefinite origin with ambiguous properties, the interplay between meticulous and process-based working methods and more intuitive approaches to composing or arranging materials, and the use of relatively “free” improvisation.
