Following on from their trailblazing debut, Musique de Lune welcomes Mazayr to the label for their second release. Manchester based producer Mazayr has been experimenting with electronic music for well over a decade. As a drummer in his youth, Mazayr's love for rhythm and groove eventually found its way into electronic music. After years of perfecting his craft the UK artist made his debut just eight months ago with a release via Magic Moment. Mazayr's emotive musicality and exotic, dance floor friendly grooves then caught the attention of Canopy Sounds, Cigarette Music and The Purr, which have served as landing for his transcendent sound going forward. Already a regular in Beatport's highly competitive and influential organic house charts, his most recent release 'A Place Of Wonder' (c/o Canopy Sounds) topped out at #2, while enjoying an extended stay in the Top 10. Now embarking on the most anticipated project of his young career, Mazayr adds Musique de Lune to his resume with a three-track showcase entitled 'Hypnose de la Lune'.

Deepwibe Underground’s -102C opens the summer season by welcoming Marley Hughes and Rich Towers to the label for their debut single. Based in Australia and the UK respectively, both Marley and Rich have enjoyed success across their solo careers. The duo’s collective discography is littered with quality organic imprints, most notably 3rd Avenue, Bekool Records, Cigarette Music, Flug Lab, RYNTH and The Purr. Now, combining their extensive forces for the first time, Marley and Rich add -102C to their resume with ‘Moonlight’, alongside a remix from Mazayr.

With a whimsical flair, it is the original mix which leads the release off. Here, Marley and Rich masterfully synthesize their talents into one singular organic vision, and results are excellent. A dancefloor minded framework of punchy beats and sparse yet detailed percussion provides the foundation for ghostly vocal phrasing and luminous tones to work their magic. Sitting at the heart of the track is a tranquil break; the vocal and primary theme breathe beautifully here, providing moments of reflection and warmth, before smoothly segueing into a dulcet finale.

Rounding out the release with the lone interpretation is Mazayr who makes his label debut following releases for Flug Lab, Musique de Lune, Nordic Voyage and RYNTH. The Manchester resident provides a tougher and more direct dancefloor interpretation led by a coax of exotic drums, low slung basslines and an array of trippy deconstructed vocals. Emotive chord changes and balmy swells provide a poignant narrative leading into the break, perfectly setting up a hugely uplifting finale. Sensational stuff from Mazayr which rounds out a great -102C debut for himself Marley Hughes and Rich Towers. Highly recommended.

Hailing from Mexico, both VITE and Hole Box have emerged from their country's avant-garde electronic landscape with a distinctive organic sound. Noted for their attention to detail, arcane musicality and inventive drum arrangements, the duo’s craft shines through vividly, making each one of their creations an absorbing experience. The duo's combined discography is highlighted by releases via trendsetting imprints such as Akbal Music, TOR, Tale & Tone and more, while the genre's premiere DJs have been steadfast with support along the way. Presenting their third release of the year, Da Luka’s roku welcomes Mazayr to the label for his debut EP. Manchester based producer Mazayr has been experimenting with electronic music for well over a decade. As a drummer in his youth, Mazayr's love for rhythm and groove eventually found its way into electronic music. After years of perfecting his craft the UK artist made his debut in 2021 with ‘Pipe Dreaming’, a release via Bulgarian imprint Magic Moment. Mazayr's emotive musicality and exotic, dance floor friendly grooves then caught the attention of Canopy Sounds, Musique de Lune, One Of A Kind, Stellar Fountain, The Purr and more, all of which have served as landing spots for his transcendent sound going forward. Also an accomplished DJ, Mazayr has frequented various venues across Manchester, including Pangaea Festival and the infamous Sankeys nightclub. In 2019, he began hosting events and a mix series under the Right Frequency banner to showcase melodic house music. 2024 has proved to be his most prolific production year to date, with four projects recorded across the first four months of the year. Now, fresh off a remix for JFR’s Secret Feelings imprint, a release which highlighted a strong spring season, Mazayr adds roku to his resume with a three-track showcase ‘Without Permission’.

The EP's title selection ‘Without Permission’' sets the pace and lands with many of Mazayr’'s beloved production hallmarks. Tight kick drums and neatly manicured percussion provide a DJ friendly intro, as chunky bass tones and vocal fragments add rhythm and character. Cruising effortlessly across the first act, it's a set of striking chord stabs which pushes energy into the main break. Mazayr's elusive vision shines during the interlude, as he maintains a balance of restraint and tension that astute dancefloor’s will appreciate, before smoothly shifting gears into a grooved-out finale.

Fresh off an excellent release for Madloch’s Sound Avenue imprint, the Greek artist has also found a home on Lee Burridge’s Get Weird and Sol Selectas. Following an auspicious beginning in November, RYNTH now further establishes itself as one of the most exciting new deep imprints with a fresh EP from Dio S.

Comprised of three selections it’s the title cut ‘One More Drama’ which gets the proceedings under way. Tight and punchy yet smooth and laid back it’s a piece that carries both hopeful and melancholic qualities. Clanky drums and luminous pads immediately grab your attention as wistful motifs collect around the framework. Coming to full fruition during the second of two breaks, it’s a strummy motif which completes the musical theme, perfectly segueing into a classy finale.

@progressiveastronaut Review: Jelly For The Babies RYNTH imprint begins 2019 by welcoming Balad to the label for his debut single. Hailing from Sydney, the Australian artist made his debut in August of 2017 on Aftertech Records and has since found a home on Lost Diaries and Sprinkler where his deep, dreamy take on house music has flourished. Now beginning 2019 with his most anticipated single to date, Balad debuts on RYNTH with ‘Familiarity’ alongside remixes from Youlaike and Adam Nathan.

Beginning with the original mix Balad explores a wonderful blend of lazy, laid back grooves and tranquil melodic concepts. It’s this fusion which has made him one of Australia’s most exciting new names. A warm, spacious groove anchors the piece while creamy designs and dulcet tones converge for reflective moments. The build out of the break is quite elegant, gently elevating mood and anticipation as wispy effects drift against a backdrop of atmospheric colour.

Marco Fracasso, one half of Italian production crew MindTech (featured on the Salvatore Agrosi “Spirit EP“ available on Deeper Shades Recordings), delivers his first solo project. His afro tech production "Xiba Chant" is entwined with deepness and edge built around a catchy African chant, hypnotic percussive beats and signature MindTech stabs.

The “Main Mix” brings all the elements together in a hedonistic entrancing dancer’s workout that builds and then explodes in the second half while the “Deeper Rub” strips it all down and is essential as a DJ tool with a dramatic break.

Much like on Salvatore's solo release, MindTech join forces to create an ancestral, deeper tech, stab laden version with their MindTech Solar Remix.

Lars Behrenroth, with his 11 minute re-interpretation, creates tension in the dub mix with a swirling, filtering pad line and driving, percussive groove which builds and layers throughout, and deceptively locks you in, taking you on a journey through his mind.

Concluding this release, Jojoflores has taken his favorite parts of Lars Behrenroth's Dub Mix and molded a re-edit aimed solely for the dancefloor.
