At the age of 21, I did my military service and became a member of the German Marines. I urgently needed a car to drive home from the barracks on weekends. I didn't have much money, so I bought a 10-year-old Opel Manta for $4,000. It was every working-class boy's dream. I loved it, the girls loved it, and the repair shop loved it. They couldn't get enough of the car.
