New York City based alternative pop rock band with driving anthemic music blending Rock, RnB, Reggae, Soul, Jazz and Pop influences. 

The Sedona Effect is a female fronted Dark Electro band from Brooklyn, NY that blends EBM with Dark Wave and Industrial elements into a unique mix. It was founded in May 2013 as the solo project of Kai Irina Hahn, a singer/actress/director/playwright from Germany. Kai is a classically trained lyrical Soprano who specialized in art songs while living in London. Inspired by New York's dark beauty, roughness, filth and the stories of the city, she swapped the piano with a synthesizer after moving to Brooklyn and started making music with various electronic musicians going back to her early musical endeavors. Instead of vibrato and high pitches, her vocals are distorted, whispery, husky and sexy. Musical collaborators of the Sedona Effect so far are Preston Krafft (Cross the Line) and Matt Hart (Gloomy Sunday/ I Burn).  As well as in her theater work Kai explores with The Sedona Effect the dark sides of femininity, sexuality and borderline experiences, that question reality.

What is the Sedona Effect?
We all have seen geese fly north in the spring. How do they know which way north is? It's simple, they have concentrations of magnetite in their inner ear fluid. The magnetite acts as part of a biological compass for the geese. Studies have shown women typically have higher concentrations of magnetite in their inner ear fluid than men. Therefore they are more receptive to subtle electromagnetic energies. There have been many books written on the special "Vortex" energy found in Sedona. Unlike the process of hearing which relies on mechanical vibration (the ear drum), to produce electrical impulses to the brain, the magnetite, as a receptor produces the impulses that through additional processes stimulate the temporal lobes of the brain. Sedona is a hub for vortex energies, anomalies in the electromagnetic field... Anomalies in our brain and how certain places affect it be it through technology or geomagnetism seemed a fantastic match to lend its name to a musical project that explored  the emotional struggle of the border-crossing, torn and distorted soul that is affected by its surrounding.

Hailing from New York, The Long Losts are a musical act made up of vocalist Anka and her husband Patrick on guitar that began in 2012 with the creation of their first song, “If Only Boris Karloff Was My Dad.” In 2014 they released their first album, “Scary Songs To Play In the Dark."

In October, 2017 they released their 2nd album To night... continuing their tales of darkness and romance.

 

The Long Losts music combines elements of goth and punk with lyrics inspired by their love for each other and all the things that they love; Autumn, Halloween, nature, romance, old ghost stories and their own memories all wrapped in a dark Victorian aesthetic.
