Currently in the spotlight of the UK’s crop of home grown talent, boy wonder Wilfred Giroux is racking up hype for his glitzy garage dipped and house-led edits. His remix for power duo Aluna George, for instance, received over 800,000 plays since it dropped last year and his debut EP, Stronger, which was released on London's Polkadot Recordings, is a club sensation that's still growing in strength. In truth, we don't always believe that statistics determine good, quality music but with the kinda hype that's surrounding the 21 years old it's hard not to pay attention.

With the release dropping just in time for Carnival,  Inner City Dance have commissioned two different, yet equally effective remixes from two fast rising Toronto based producers aimed squarely at the Garage dance floor. 

For the aptly titled "Back 2 97" mix, Lamont Dex channels the inspiration of late 90's Double 99 and 187 Lockdown, creating a warping dread bass, skipping Garage workout, replete with time stretched vocal snips and full Ragga chatting refrains guaranteed to illicit instant reloads.

Following the final release of his three-part series ‘Order’, ‘Chaos’, and ‘Balance’, Bon-Psy has united the projects together into a forthcoming album, set to also feature remixes from a handful of talented producers in the Electronica space.

This second remix comes from ‘Nuage’, a respected producer with multiple releases on Anjunadeep and Phonica Records who leans into delicate and emotive electronic fusions of forward-thinking House and 2-step / Future Garage styles. Here, he transforms the melancholy and subtle approach of the original into an infectious club banger that is as catchy as it is danceable.

Kinetic low end provides the club energy while he tastefully repurposes the vocals with a scattergun effect to hit in and out over a swathe of soft synth swells and chords. The resulting piece draws similarities to the likes of Four Tet, Floating Points, and Caribou’s dance output with its blend of leftfield styles mixed with club rhythms.

Nuage is a name many of the heads already know with notable support from RinseFM, KissFM, FIP, Majestic Casual, and Mr SuicideSheep. Across DSPs he is known just as well and has been a mainstay of a variety of electronica playlists on AppleMusic, Spotify, and AmazonMusic.


Meanwhile Bon-Psy has also received notable support from BBC Radio 1, BBC 6Music , Bandcamp Weekly, and a plethora of streaming editorial playlists including Genre Glitch, Fresh Finds Experimental (Spotify), New In Electronic (Apple Music), Reverie (Tidal) and Brand New UK (Deezer).

Collectively it’s a great artistic match and the track looks set to hit the dancefloors strong with early tastemakers already unleashing it to great effect.
