we started 2014 with 5 gigs in the first 2 days and the final one was at the legendary Revolver in one of our favourite cities; Melbourne. Pretty much everyone who’s been to Melbourne has at least one Revolver story! Apart from a few hours on a Saturday afternoon they’re open non stop all weekend, it’s an ace dark space to get lost in, a touch of Berlin maybe. Despite being a little weary we were buzzing to see so many people still out from NYE alongside some fresh faces too, and with a great dancefloor vibe going on we decided to record our set, enjoy.

Here's my set from the 25th annual edition of the Friends and Family Summer Campout. I rerecorded it as there were a couple mixing glitches in the live version - nothing too heinous, but also nothing I wanted to hear every time I listen to this set in the future. So, made it right for posterity!  =) Sound-wise, this set has a slightly different sound palette for me and even has just a touch of a psy tech towards the end - a nod to Khromata who was following me, and also just some new sounds coming out of producers I've loved for years. So, dig those big, belching, growly synths! As always, massive thanks to everyone that made and makes FnF happen. Raving aint easy, and it remains so amazing that we're still here. Rock on!

He is best known for throwing the infamous HAWT underground parties. In 2014 Mikey found himself focused mainly on original productions and vocal projects, with releases on Classic Music Company, Dirtybird, Snatch!, Great lakes Audio, Cajual Records and Salted Music.

When we sat down with Mikey, we asked how the mix represented him as an artist, Mikey replied with “I like to keep things lively and fun with a blend of deep, jack, soul and tech.”

Mikey went on to explain, what house music meant to him “House music is my life. It truly saved me so many times and shaped me into the person I am today. I knew a long time ago this was for me, regardless of my place in it. When you know, you know. It’s more than just the music it’s the way of life.” We then asked Mikey what the House Gangster movement meant to him, he responded with, “It’s a game changer. I love how it stays true to that proper, raw underground sound that a lot of people maybe haven’t been exposed too, that’s so important. It’s been crazy awesome seeing it grow so much over the years, and I think it’s just the beginning.”
