The new dirtybird compilation is loaded with 11 great tunes I have been collecting for over 6 months. Most notably, the Shiba San "OKAY" record has absolutely been destroying every dance floor known to man. We have lots of big birds like Justin Martin, Catz ‘N Dogz & Justin Jay on this, plus a ton of great newcomers and friends making appearances.

The dirtybird BBQ was founded as a small get together in Golden Gate Park thirteen years ago. We've had the same core line-ups and even the same chef, Grillson, since the beginning.  But three years ago, the free party in the park got too big and our permit was pulled.  The city of San Francisco could no longer handle the amount of people showing up to the event.  

Ever since then we have been trying to think of way to bring back the vibe of the BBQ park party. This year we finally put together a team that is able to take the BBQ party all across North America and Europe. We will be starting in Miami and ending in San Francisco so make sure to come grill and chill with us sometime this year. This compilation is a celebration of the O.G. dirtybird BBQ vibe.   I hope you enjoy the music.

Shadow Child and Kry Wolf’s Food Music has gained a reputation since its inception for consistently supporting new and exciting sounds across the bass music spectrum, and that is set to continue with the release of the long-awaited ‘Girls/Breathe’ EP from Food fan favourites Hannah Wants & Chris Lorenzo.
Hannah Wants & Chris Lorenzo are the Birmingham-based duo behind ‘Dappy’, the immense bass house track that made waves across the UK dance scene and received a DJ Mag Best of British nomination for ‘Best Tune’. Hannah Wants’s bi-monthly mixtape series has gained an almost legendary status, while Chris Lorenzo has made his name collaborating with the likes of Pete Graham and as part of the duo Cause & Affect. Both Hannah and Chris also regularly appear at Birmingham’s seminal 10:31 and 2:31 club nights, cementing their standing as two of the scene’s most exciting names right now.
Although the duo have become notorious for their hard-hitting sound, ‘Girls’ and ‘Breathe’ show off a slightly different side to Hannah and Chris. First up is ‘Girls’, which uses samples from an R’n’B classic to create an intense, moody track with a driving bassline. 

On the flip, ‘Breathe’ may surprise listeners at first with its airy and atmospheric pads, but soon returns to more familiar territory with an 808-style bottom line that will get the floor bouncing.

Dropping just in time for summer, both ‘Girls’ and ‘Breathe’ will be met with excitement from fans and DJs alike, as Hannah and Chris continue to mold their own unique sound.

This essential three-track offering follows the world-renowned Grammy-and-Brit-Award-nominated duo’s ‘Little Black Book’ album release on Moda Black last year plus their more recent ‘FabricLive87’ mix compilation.

The EP’s title track ‘House With Me’ commences the release, taking the listener on a funk-driven dirty House groove full of sassy Saxophone riffs, crunchy bit-reduced drum samples and a recurring spoken word vocal stating “Eastside Boom, Westside Boom, Northside Boom, Southside Boom” from Chicago’s Ghetto House legend Parris Mitchell.

Next up is ‘U Can’, which takes us on more of a late 80s/early 90s Balearic House vibe, encompassing a distinctive soulful male vocal, warm pad sounds and rock-solid drum programming reminiscent of tracks like Joe Smooth’s House classic ‘Promised Land’ and Raze’s ‘Break For Love’.

Last but not least, Snatch’s label boss Riva Starr step up to deliver and tasty-and-cheeky edit of one of Groove Armada’s most successful tracks to date, ‘Superstylin’. Riva’s fresh-sounding rework features most of the original’s main ingredients but tweaked and manipulated to fit around a stomping new House groove.
