Six years after the release of their audacious and much-acclaimed bootleg remix album, Stolen Voices, London/Berlin trio White Label returned with their first album of legitimate remixes, Borrowed Voices, featuring Paul Weller, Mark Eitzel, Emma Pollock, Erland Cooper & Hannah Peel (of The Magnetic North) and the late, great Associates singer Billy MacKenzie. 
2011’s Stolen Voices reimagined a different musical past by creating elaborate, full band arrangements around the vocals from rare demos by the likes of David Bowie, John Lennon, Dennis Wilson and The Supremes. The Guardian praised White Label for “using technology to write their own version of musical history”, while on BBC 6Music Jarvis Cocker described Stolen Voices as “great…a really interesting album” and Lauren Laverne called it “a mean feat of alchemy…and totally excellent.” 
When White Label’s successive release, the 1972 EP (featuring Neil Young, Marc Bolan and Roberta Flack) received plays on daytime Radio 2 from Laverne and Dermot O’Leary, the trio – Steve Aungle, Anth Brown, Tom Doyle – realised that their cheekily illegal experiment had maybe proved too successful. 
As a result, though, the band began to be approached by artists looking for official remixes, the cream of which make up Borrowed Voices: from their slow-lane psychedelic soul take on Paul Weller’s Phoenix, the Laurel Canyon acid ballad Gold Dreaming by Amy Boone (of Portland, Oregon band The Delines) to their string-driven version of The Magnetic North’s High Life. 
Newer artists who feature include the trippy funk remix of Greek, London-based singer Aphty Khea’s Onyx Glitz, which is now released as a single via The Sound Of Everything UK.

Queer Greek-British producer, singer, composer and visual artist Aphty Khéa, blends driving beats and captivating melodies, that journey from warm and blissful harmonies, to distorted and aggressive tongue-in-cheek shouting. Their toplines are performed in English and Greek, and their productions explore the world of electronica, dance & UK rave culture, starting from electronic pop, and moving on to deconstructed club, house, garage and drum & bass. 

Supported on Radio 1 by Jamz Supernova on and Jaguar on BBC Introducing Dance, their latest EP 'Salt & Copper' received a warm welcome, with further features included on 6 Music with Lauren Laverne, DJ Mag, Mixmag, Beatport and KALTBLUT Magazine. 

Lyrically, Aphty bears tales of vulnerability with poetic messages, touching on subjects of queerness, gender identity, social anxiety, death, existentialism, sex, menstruation and radical self love. Using a mixture of chopped, pasted and edited samples, they surgically dissect every sound they make including synths, piano, percussion, whilst sampling every single vocal style that exists is their voice.  Moving between Berlin, London and Athens, Aphty Khéa builds a hard-hitting visual sound world, offering through their music videos a glimpse into their imagined sonic dreamland.

With a musical background that spans choir from the age of six, studying classical singing and piano at school, winning junior Eurovision in Greece, then swapping their home country for London at 18 to study contemporary singing and vocals at the ICMP Music Institute, and finally a BA degree in songwriting. Beyond composing, performing and producing their music Aphty, has participated in the radical left scenes of Greece, France and Germany standing in solidarity for dignified living in the LGBTQIA+,  anti-capitalist, antiracist, antifascist and antisexist scenes.
