AWEH is delighted to share an exciting new musical project and present the highly anticipated collaboration EP titled "Shukuma." This ambitious project unites the visionary label head, Esa, with the legendary South African Kwaito artist, Kamazu, hailing from the vibrant township of Soweto, Johannesburg. Crafted meticulously over two years, from 2020 to 2022, "Shukuma" is a testament to the limitless power of musical synergy and the awe-inspiring richness of South African culture.

The title track, Shukuma, is a prime example of the collaborative brilliance between Esa and Kamazu, blending future kwaito-inspired elements with acid house. It represents a sonic manifestation of their shared creative vision. The EP pays homage to Kwaito and its profound connection to Chicago House, which left a lasting impression on the South African music genre during the 90s. Additionally, the EP boasts another future Kwaito classic, Muntu. This infectious dancefloor banger showcases the continued creative partnership of Esa and Kamazu but also features the innovative contributions of Dirty Bungalow, infusing the EP with a fresh and vibrant energy into the mix. Muntu has already gained recognition and acclaim, having been featured in the esteemed podcast series, The Invisible Hand.

To enhance the complete auditory and visual experience surrounding Shukuma, Esa has collaborated with the exceptionally talented artists and friends Floating B_strd and Sanoy. Together, they have crafted an exquisite piece of art that encapsulates the very essence of the EP. The final artwork will be unveiled on the official release day, building anticipation and intrigue. This unique fusion of music and visual art adds depth and excitement to the project.

"Shukuma" transcends being a mere EP; it invites listeners on an journey that celebrates the profound talents of Esa, Kamazu, and the creative minds that contributed to its realisation. Through the fusion of traditional Kwaito elements and contemporary influences, this release truly showcases the artistry behind the music. About one year after our Vol. 2, clubs and dancing bars were closed again in France. This sad news made us decide to launch again our Edits series, slightly renaming it “Paradise edits”. Fortunately, the good contacts we made through the last year helped us pulling together this new compilation quite fast. First, we had the Brooklyn duo Fundido, part of Earth Beat crew, with whom we had been chatting for quite a while and talked many times about having an edit from then. Then, we asked Sputnik, a DJ from Moscow to join, as we were enchanted by his work for That’s A Steal and his release on Gop Tun records earlier this year. A few days later, Nicolas Kotowicz, another Russian artist, contacted us to share his edit and we thought he would be a perfect addition to the comp. Finally, Latane introduced us to Lloyd with a bunch of edits and we were very keen to include him too.

Legalize Lambada is back and there ain’t no moldy gorgonzola in this Italo homage!

Legendary cosmic captain Albion returns to Lambada-land and starts this edit compilation with “Nucleare”, a robotic jam seasoned with Italian vocals which serves as a great introduction. 
  
Ric Piccolo’s “Disco teacher” on A2 and “Alright” on B1 are serious floor fillers, possibly ready to injure part of the Boston dynamics fleet after inducing uncontrollable dance moves.

At the end it’s Hysteric’s “Moment” on B2 that prompts a soulful side of italo for some deep machine learning.

Our first contemporary release on Avec Plaisir features a stunning collaboration of Munich-based Ly Nguyen and @supersoundglobal's @nicjalusi. We discovered "Laguna Azur" already years ago through our friend Pia and kept playing it in our sets since then, which caused almost ridiculous amounts of ID-requests from audiences all over Europe. So when Ly and Nic agreed on working together on a physical release, we knew this is gonna be something special. 

While the Original Laguna Azur Mix takes you on a motorcycle trip to  a beach bar sipping cocktails in the early 90s (with denim jackets, cocktail umbrellas and the full program), Jalusi's Acid Dub is already starting the party, when the dubby bass hits like we wanna dance into the sunset, watching smiles on everyones faces, rumpled hair from the early evening breeze. 2AM – was it Hazme Sonar or Sueno Latino or the Balearic Eric & Nic Jalusi Dream House Mix – You’re in a sea of hands up in the air when those piano chords kick in after the break. You just want to dive into the ocean for another night swim and shake your drenched body on the sandy dancefloor. A handful of friends remain at the beach in the very moment when the sun comes up and you’ll hear the hypnotizing leftfield dub "My Heart“, lying on the shore, everyone’s eyes turn into the greenish-blue color of a mystical lagoon hidden in the palm forest. A salty taste remaining on your skin.
