When I received the proposal to participate in the 5th edition of Temple, during the after-hours slot called Baptistery, I immediately knew I had the opportunity to do something completely different from what I'm used to. So, without thinking too much, I dove into my most personal records, trying to select tracks that have influenced me over the years.

You don’t always get the chance to showcase a more intimate side during a dance set, so I’m incredibly grateful to Josephine and Camu for the opportunity to put the finishing touch on such a special day as we experienced at Temple Chapter #5. And, of course, many thanks to the brave souls who stayed until the very end. XO

London native, Barcelona resident, Josh Hoppen (@joshhoppen) is a seasoned DJ, crate digger and part of the team behind Mostra festival (@mostrabcn). Taking his cues from years immersed in dance music culture, his sets unravel connections between genres, where moody soundscapes and atmospheric techno clear a path for crisp breaks and crackling jungle. Josh is also the founder of Seasoned Sound, an exploration project digging through the diverse worlds of jazz, funk, soul and disco to unearth the roots of electronic dance music.

For the eight installments of our podcast series, we are happy to present Sybil. Recorded last autumn in Japan, when the leaves were gradually changing colors and a mood of melancholy set in, this mix represents, to us, a sonic manifestation of the enduring beauty of Japan's seasonal change. 

It is a mix in which Sybil, ever gently, reverbs between deep layers of dub, beautifully warped sounds, and the occasional elegant beat, took those present across a musical palette as diverse as the colors of the Japanese autumn. Nearly a year later, with the onset of another autumn cycle, we think it is now the time to release this mix. Please sit back, find a good pair of speakers, and enjoy.

Welcome to the Midgar Records takeover. Celebrating its 10th anniversary this year, the Berlin-based label will be taking over the 909 mix series for the duration of September with a mix running each week from a label affiliate with a full lowdown on the label to accompany the final edition.

For the third mix in this takeover, we welcome Amsterdam-based DJ and producer Tammo Hesselink who dives into dark, deep and murky waters for this moody session that is filled with crunchy and industrial soundscapes. We're completely obsessed with his productions over here at 909 with an incredible run of releases on labels such as Delsin, Midgar, Blank Mind and Nous'klaer Audio. A resident at much-loved Amsterdam spot, Garage Noord, Tammo Hesselink's productions tend to lean towards the bassier, more percussive side of techno. Always tapping into different sounds and styles, last year Tammo debuted a new band project with his friends under the name comforter2 and recently revived his Melatonin Man alias for a special live performance at Draaimolen Festival.

Recently, we had the pleasure of exploring the creative world of rea. rea can be seen as an organism living for and from the community in & out of the dance floors. Its sound is defined by a fusion of polyrhythms, warmth, unhurried tension, bursts of energetic bliss, gravitational pressure, tempo shifts, deep bass, and delicate textures.

Reflecting on pivotal moments and projects, rea highlights the significance of for_m and cafunfo, both collaborative music sessions being created with strangers becoming friends.  “It’s a free space where every being feels home and safe. Everyone contributes whenever it flows. It's where the most magic happened.” reminiscing about nights filled with blankets, laughter, and dance—transforming ordinary gatherings into unforgettable raves. 

This podcast represents the culmination of years experimenting with those tracks in various settings and finally finding the perfect moment to bring everything together: a trip to the UK for the  @.a.mbient.plus.  event series where a beloved connection with the @selective_work crew was born.

We’ve been on a roll lately at Delayed, with the caliber of mixes coming our way steadily raising the bar. Today, we’re thrilled to feature a mix from a familiar name: our friend Malte Schumann, known to many as Caldera, the German producer hailing from Brighton. His production work consistently brings a unique spark, and that same artistry comes through when he takes control of the decks. Some artists refuse to settle into a single genre, and when approached with skill, this can be one of their greatest strengths. Caldera’s set showcases just that, steering clear of predictability and embracing the freedom to explore.

What we have here is an expertly crafted mix, technically sharp and atmospherically rich, with a track selection that perfectly balances exploration and coherence. Founder of the Alpenglühen project and co-owner of Antimatter, he and his team run the club and festival Espacio Perpendicular, curate Barcelona's Mostra Festival, and perform at top global venues like Paral-lel, Vurt, and Gare Porto. His vinyl DJ sets take listeners on a rhythmic, dreamlike journey.
