El joven coruñés comienza su andadura como dj en su época universitaria donde creó su propio colectivo con el que en un principio programaba raves pasando posteriormente al formato club. 
Apasionado por la electrónica y su historia desde muy joven, el estilo que en este momento lo define es el techno, con un amplio umbral de versiones del estilo. 
Después de pasar por Salamanca y Madrid, actualmente reside en Frankfurt y forma parte de Communion Agency. También esta llevando a cabo un proyecto con su compañero Slin, en el que se desafian en un face to face usando cuatros platos y dos mixers.
Colabora con Archaic con un set de una hora mezclando cortes de techno de vanguardia con cortes oldschool.

Radio Pager Episode 32 - Alfret

Nr. 2 der curated ambient & electronic Series kommt von Johannes Aeppli. Er ist als Musikschaffender kein Unbekannter. Seines Zeichens ist Johannes Aeppli seit Anfang der Nullerjahre als Drummer der Band Freezeebee aus Ffm bekannt geworden, welche nicht nur im Frankfurter Raum bekannt wurden durch eine eigene Mischung aus Rock, Stoner Rock, und dabei, wie sie selbst sagten, traf dort "Jung auf Alt, Funk auf Soul sowie Doom und Metal". Ein Neues Kapitel schlug er auf mit der Band Peoples Temper, die ihren druckvollen, und immer noch an stoner angelehnten Sound weiterentwickelten zum noch kompakteren und raueren Rock Sound, angelehnt an so divergierenden Genres wie Blues und Metal (eindrucksvoll zu hören vom  Livemitschnitt / Gasoline in Ffm 2012) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hRDFAX6KaIA&t=6s

Für die neue Mix-Reihe produzierte Johannes einen gleichsam einfühlsamen wie introspektiven Mix mit vielen Ausuferungen in Alternative-Rock und Indie Gefilde, der wie seiner Aussage nach an einen sehr dunklen Gala Abend erinnert, was ja voll OK ist, denn Gala Abende dürfen auch mal ins sehr Dunkle abdriften, solange man selbst noch weiß wo man genau steht. Johannes steht auch total auf elektronischen Sound und hat seit jüngstem als sein Alias Nopamin elektronische Tracks produziert, die irgendwo zwischen Punk, Elektro und Indie Rock zu verorten sind und ordentlich Tanzbar daherkommen!

Ich finde den Mix total gelungen und lasse mich gerne von der Düsternis des Sounds verzaubern.

New Kraftwerk Mix

On May 25th 2024, to accompany the launch of his Arthur Russell book "Travels Over Feeling" Richard King put together an event at London's Barbican celebrating Arthur's life with an all star musical cast recreating and reimagining his music.

I was thrilled to be invited to play a DJ set in the foyer afterwards. I have been an Arthur Russell devotee for 30 years and decided to play an all Arthur Russell DJ set*. The atmosphere was very special with lots of love transmitting back and forth from the DJ booth to the dancefloor. I really felt a freedom to slowly build it up playing so many of my favourite AR tracks and it was one of my very favourite DJ gis of 2024 so far.


*Full disclosure - there was an additional 30 minutes finale of this set that didn't record where I played non Arthur Russell, disco / disco adjacent records.

Another visitor makes his way down the iron staircase to the 2Sox basement HQ, this time in the form of one of Glasgow's most trusted selectors, Laurence Hughes.

He and fellow house (and techno, and electro) expert Tom Churchill have been busy recently making very fine tunes together as The Nuclear Family - https://soundcloud.com/the_nuclear_family. Their self released 12"s are two of 2Sox' absolute favourite belter records of the last year. Be sure to check them out. Laurence's production credits go back as far as 2002, under the Elijah moniker on Jason Brunton's Iridite label. Tom founded the Headspace and Emoticon labels, which produced many a stellar release by himself and the likes of Dan Curtin, Future Beat Alliance and Marco Bernardi.

Laurence has been a resident at many a club night in Glasgow over the years, including the legendary Traxx night alongside our previous DTS guest Jamie Thomson. He takes massive pleasure in discovering, playing and discussing electronic music new and old. You'll normally have a screed of mental notes after hearing a set, and this mix will be no exception. It's also worth noting that he will teach you a thing or two about, and whip your arse at, table tennis.

Another selection of mainly UK techno from the early to mid-90s. On this one there's a slightly more uptempo/dancefloor feel (in the middle section at least), with some deep grooves from the Pure Plastic/Plaid family, LFO's Mark Bell in his Clark guise, a soulful techno masterpiece from Inertia (aka A Guy Called Gerald), and a raw heater from Neuropolitique on Irdial. Recorded from vinyl once again with authentic grit.

Tom emerged in 1996 via his own label, Headspace Recordings, which went on to feature several of his productions as well as releases from Dan Curtin, Derek Carr & Sean Deason, among others. Together with sister label, Emoticon, Headspace established itself as an eminent UK label, and their releases are still sought after to this day.

Both labels ceased trading in 2006, and after a break from music production, Tom finally returned and has recently been releasing as part of a duo - The Nuclear Family.

I’ve been wanting to do this for a while and now is as good a time as any!

I’ve done a tribute/compilation mix of 2 of my favourite artists - who also happened to be brothers: Geoff & Trevor Bastow

Geoff & Trevor Bastow were born in Yorkshire and moved down to London in the mid 70s. They became stalwarts on the Library scene recording thousands of pieces for the likes of KPM/Bruton and Music De Wolfe. 

Geoff Bastow latterly moved to Munich, worked with Giorgio Moroder and was responsible for a lot of the Munich Disco sound in the early 80s. He was also behind the early 80s mega hit K.I.D on Sam. 

Relatively little is known about his brother Trevor. There’s hardly any information about him at all online apart from a single image on Discogs of him looking pretty morose at a piano. He also recorded under the pseudonyms Anthony Hobson and Unit 9. 

These guys definitely had the secret sauce and I hope you enjoy some of the pieces on here. All the tracks have a Bastow writing/producing/performing or mixing in them.
