Our cover of “Every Breath You Take” is out today! And check out my parents on the cover! Yup, that Asian couple in the 1970s-looking photo. That’s them. Lol…. Now why the heck did I put my parents on the cover of a song about obsession, about not being able to let go, about stalking someone you love even when they have left?! Cause that’s what Asian parents do to us. :) They just cannot let go. Even when we turn 18 and serve in the the army in Singapore. Or when we go to college. Or when we graduate. Or when we get married. They still stalk us. They still watch us. They still check what we’re eating, what time we’re sleeping, what we’re doing and even how we’re folding our clothes. Gosh, it’s intense. But you know what, that’s what makes our Asian culture unique. And we love our parents for it. I’ll probably do the same for my kids. Hence we repeated “I’ll be watching you” multiple times in this cover. In fact, we were almost tempted to call this song “I’ll be watching you”. Anyway, I just wanted to put my parents on a cover of a track and thought this was apt as I know they will always be watching me, no matter where I am, no matter how old I get. So mum and dad, this song is for you. To all the obsessive Asian parents out there, if your kids complain how you don't give them any space, stuff this song in their faces! :)

Exemplars of a bold new internationalism in the music world, Trouze's recent version of the Police classic ‘Every Breath You Take’ was released in a tandem with 'Qing Fei De Yi'’ (featuring Singaporean pop star Derrick Ho), a cover of a Chinese pop song beloved by millions, featuring Dutch superstar DJ Sam Feldt, and called the first Chinese Classic-EDM collaboration by Billboard China. 

Trouze’s Declan Ee is also an award-winning entrepreneur in his native Singapore where he manages a $100M impact fund and his business acumen has earned raves in Business Insider and the BBC, all the while juggling fatherhood and his burgeoning musical career, as well as performing at major festivals like Creamfields, Looptopia and Ministry of Sound. 

Featuring a heartfelt vocal performance by progressive soul star Brandyn Burnette (aka EMAN8), Trouze's soaring new single 'These Streets' was inspired by Ee's personal experiences. The street on the cover art is a famous heritage street in Singapore which features pre-war shop houses (some over 100 years old) near where Ee grew up. 'The essence of 'These Streets' is about how one's dreams and life should not be restricted by circumstances' says Ee 'Hence the lyrics 'these streets will never define me'...The streets where one grew up should never constrain or hold you back.' An aspirational message from a band that continues to break boundaries with each new release.
