JAHYU - ARIRANG EP [TCRFREE001]

Tripedal Crow Records gives away this free download EP as preparement for the upcoming 12" vinyl releases.

Arirang is a Korean folk song describing the travails encountered by the subject of the song while crossing a mountain pass. The mentioned Arirang Gogae (=pass) is an imaginary rendezvous of lovers in the land of dreams. In this version JahYu puts the poetic mystic of the song into a bass-driven Dubstep context ready to make the dancehall enter the land of dreams.

The lotus is omnipresent in Korean culture. Not only the blossoms but also the roots, the leafy pads – the whole flower. It shows up in literature, art, architecture, music and even in food. The lotus is a symbol of Buddhism. Either pink or white, it can bloom in even the foulest water; it retains its beauty without letting its environment taint its pure nature. The flower signifies a spiritual paradise.

Desert Trax is thrilled to bring fans a star-studded remix pack for ”Saraswati's Twerkaba,” the smash lead track from Desert Dwellers' Clear Path compilation, which was originally released in 2016 by Sofa Beats. The exotically innovative original from Amani Friend and Treavor Moontribe sees the Desert Dwellers blending their signature downtemple dub sounds with global club flavors. It was inspiration enough to draw in a wide range of remixers amped to take on the task.

French guitarist and glitch sensation CloZee joined forces with LuSiD for an earthy, percussive take. Southern California bass legend David Starfire leaned more into the clubby side of the yoga twerk track. Mindex and Landswitcher both went dark and dangerous on their respective remixes, pulling heavily from the subsonic sampling and fearlessly pushing the track into the cavernous abyss. Patiently building from mild murmur to full on twisted roar, Nanosphere stretches Saraswati into a psy opus. Israeli sensation TRIBONE stripped the cut down all the way to its primal, midtempo stomp, and there is no doubt his take will turn dance floors loose with its relentless pulse.

The “Saraswati's Twerkaba” remix pack features 8 tracks with 40+ minutes of music and is available July 17th on all major sites worldwide.

Crowd control is the second piece of music in our concept EP, “Dark Before Dawn”, which reflects upon JJ’s first hand experience with Syrian refugees whilst on a 20 hour train ride from Southern France to Munich Germany back in 2015. The musical storyline of the album attempts to narrate the journey of a war torn refugee, and the mental-emotional battle they experience as they transition from the chaos of their home country to finding peace in their new life. Crowd Control is the second episode in that story.
	
What was so fulfilling creatively about writing Crowd Control, was the ability to combine the influence of all our current favorite musical genres, funk, future bass, and rock, into one fluid musical composition. The song also highlights Jake Hall (drums) and our favorite aspects as performing musicians, including dancey grooves and psychedelic jam breakdowns, to complex electronic production. Crowd Control has been our favorite song to play in our live shows since we wrote it back in April of this year, so we are glad to be able to transfer the same energy into our studio recording.
