After rocking some bomb flavor on Raquel Divar's 'Aux In' remix album, MalLabel Music is stoked for his solo return and bringing you a fresh 5 track EP from Northern California's rising low-end adventurer, Pushloop.
With a consistent outpouring of magnificent journeys through sound, Pushloop has been developing a rich catalogue of thoughtful sound experiments ranging from psychedelic worldly vibes to the deepest of dubs. A seemingly endless stream of remixes, originals and bootlegs has carried him steadily towards a blossoming career in 2016 with summer bookings already announcing and remixes for and by some heavy hitters such as The Widdler. We're excited to feature such a unique style and you can be sure he'll be remaining on our hot list so we can keep you in the know as he takes it to the next level.
The title track opens the EP with the decidedly eastern vibe on which the album derives it's name, Jamila, which translates to 'beautiful' in the feminine and carries forth through a multitude of worldly essences. Continuing with 'Matador' clearly indicating the Spanish influence that drives ominous textures through the mind, the EP then moves to a very tribal vibe with the minimal UK Dub in 'Aluminium'. 'Night Shift' maintains the eerie tide of emotion with a little supernatural mystery and finally he's got The Widdler down with a little more bounce to the title tracks already rich overtones. This EP can only be properly described as an experience in darkness taken 'round the world. Come along for the ride.

We're proud to present the latest single from the "Worst Behavior Vol. 1" compilation, the debut compilation release from Anna Morgan & Bell Curve's new "Worst Behavior" record label/event series. These two have been making huge waves in NYC's soundsystem culture scene, and we were especially impressed when we caught Anna's set at Outlook Festival in Croatia last year. They're impressive curators behind the decks, as promoters, and in the studio, and we can't wait to see where they take their new label project! 

Today's premiere comes to us from a Booms and Claps favorite, Hungarian-born DJ Madd. With huge releases on some of our most-loved labels ranging from Tumble Audio to Cosmic Bridge to his own personal imprint, Roots & Future, along with a massive guest mix for us last month, it was a no-brainer to premiere some more new content from him. "Pak Up Ya Dub" clocks in at 170 BPM with an infectious halftime groove and big 808's, and I'd even go as far as to say that it is an "absolute stomper." For the 25th edition of Rusted Rhythms, The Rust's resident Face Plant is channeling his ghoulish musings through the veil of Halloween. Jason Shepherd, the man behind the alias, is already noted for his penchant for all things spooky and far out. Elaborating on that supernatural infatuation, the tracklist for this mix is the ideal soundscape for All Hallow's Eve. Anchored throughout the mix are a slew of unreleased Face Plant goodies, showcasing his palette of nuclear-charged synthesis and generative sound design. Fat wobbles don't go out of style; they simply adapt, evolve, and become fatter wobbles, and Shepherd lives by this platitude. Beyond the Face Plant originals, the mix is littered with selectors from some of the more prolific names in electronically produced music, most notably Mr. Bill, Alon Mor, Culprate, and Ion Driver. Tapping from the well of hip-hop and it's pervasive spin-offs, the likes of Gramatik, Tab & Anitek, and Rasp 5 find their homes in this edition of Rusted Rhythms as well, complimenting what is already a hip-hop rhythmic focus. If you're trying to get alchemical this Halloween, here's your soundtrack. The witch's brew is stirred properly, the moon is radiating it's lurid glow, and Halloween is finally upon us. Stay spooky.

Rusted Rhythms Vol. 25 - Face Plant [Mad Scientist II]

Any fan of genre-smashing sound system music outta Europe at this point simply must be aware of Schlachthofbronx. Synthesizing bass music traditions and experimentalism from their home continent, the Americas, Africa, and the Caribbean, the Munich duo are sound system staples, with a relentless (pre-covid) touring schedule and a long-running residency on the 60,000-watt Elemental Wave rig at their legendary Blurred Vision night. Absolutely no one makes omnivorous hybrid rave-club-dub-tech like the boys from Munich, and after the universal love received for their first ZamZam, “Dun Dem” b/w “Soundbad” we couldn’t wait to get into a next chapter.

The A side began life as a Blurred Vision tool, gradually molding itself into a proper tune. “Akkord” brings heavy dub reggae energy and mystically marries it to cumbia-laced accordions, an ultra-sick and darkly melodic bassline, and their patented punishing 4/4 matrix. A filtered vocal snippet warps itself into pure rhythmic texture, anchored by a clanging metal “snare” and layer upon layer of lush, saturated synths. All these elements fling into glorious, beatless suspension in full-spectrum reverb space, tension and release artistry expressed through three massive drops for the skankers.

“Shell” is driven by filtering white noise that swarms and swirls overhead like low-flying propeller blades over 808 village percussion. Throbbing single-note sub bass and fist-pumping kick form the sweltering, locked-down beat stage for Doubla J, a friend and collaborator from Costa Rica. He’s the MC in your head, liminal hype-man inside the record, at once calling for, calling out, and existing within the tune and the dark recesses of the echo chamber.
