Messing with time signatures, tempos, and most of all, your inner ear, his remix of "Cursive on the Phone" is a downtempo gurgler with bleeps, bloops, and drips that will have you looking around your apartment. Chill beat stylings mix with sexy vocal coos. It's a tour de force of subtle dance music that gets lost in today's bang-your-head culture. But we were lucky enough to find it. And so were you. Delivered earlier this year, the prolific album "My Heart Is Love" from east coast duo Aligning Minds was one of the most downloaded releases of 2013 for Gravitas Recordings. Inspired by their successes and many travels since, Mike Folk and Dan Merrill have put together the new collaborative "My Heart Is Remixed" project. In addition to winners of the official remix contest, the album features many talented and prominent producers who share their re-imagined visions of the original nine songs. The diversity throughout runs strong, as so many unique styles from across the globe swirl together to create an entity simultaneous familiar yet distinct. Habitual genre restraints were shed here long ago, with thoughtful offerings ranging from deep and delicate downtempo all the way to bold and audacious dubstep. Even with such a colorful cast, each remix shares the unifying factors of atmosphere, harmony and ethereal bass presence, giving rise to the cohesive expedition that lies before each listener.

A substantial portion of the revenue from this album will be donated to Critical Beats, a non-profit whose mission is rainforest conservation and sustainable education. No strangers to charity projects, Gravitas and Aligning Minds have linked electronic music together with an important cause, with the help of the remixers such as KiloWatts, Androcell, Psymbionic, Push/Pull, Krusseldorf and many more. Apart from these endeavors, the album remains available as a free download with the hope that as many people as possible will connect with its encompassing sonic message.

Fortunately, not everybody is falling victim to the cookie cutter bandwagon, and almost every day we’re happy to uncover new artists that are really pushing the limits and creating their own vibe. Case and point: San Francisco-based up-and-comer Kameronessi who just dropped a new original mix, appropriately titled ”Nomadic Language“.

Regardless of your listening space, this song has the power to transport you far far away, be it within our galaxy or another. The sound structure and overabundance of instrumentation are unlike anything we’ve experienced in quite some time, and the world-music-flow and tropical-feeling percussion bring to mind thoughts of greats like Govinda and The Orb.

Another reviewer probably said it best: “This track really does transport you. Probably best played at sunrise outdoors for a festival.”

This is the first song from my upcoming EP collaboration with "Rising Appalachia".  If you dont know who they are, I recommend that you educate yourself swiftly as they are the JAM;  Beautiful, elegant, sultry sisters from the South.  

Leah and Chloe play Fiddle, Banjo, Guitar, and create eloquent vocal harmonies that melt my heart.  We met 4 years ago in India and have reconnected to blend our sounds together.

They compose original music as well as traditional music from around the world.  This song "Sunu" is an african/appalachian fusion piece.  

We have had several rag tag recording sessions around the US (pictures coming soon hehe) and have had some of the most fun I have ever had in my life collaborating.  The Joy I have in my heart when I create this music is inexplicable in words.  This project makes me feel bliss.  

We're working on a full live performance also which is....dare I say.... mucho legendary
