Zen Highway is a road from Old to New, from East to West. It is a highway that takes you from the limits of your everyday mind to the transcendent reaches of imagination. When you travel this road, you'll hear echoes from the past mingling with newer sounds. Timeless songs and tireless themes, delivered with passion and intensity by people who feel the music deeply. 

Zen Highway is a band from Lexington, Ky featuring long-time Lexington guitarist, songwriter, singer and harmonica player Troy Jamison, vocalist and lyricist Candace Lovejoy, bassist/multi-instrumentalist, Eric Snyder, and percussionist Donte Montgomery.

Zen Highway's live show features a wildly diverse blend of some of the best songs in contemporary music, ranging from the 60s and 70s (a stunning rendition of "White Rabbit", sung by Candace, comes to mind, or "Comfortably Numb", with blistering David Gilmore guitar solos), to 90s favorites from grunge and alternative greats (STP, Nirvana, REM), with standards from Tom Petty and CCR, and eclectic picks from Tom Waits and the Violent Femmes all mixed in. Zen Highway is not a one-trick pony.

Balancing out this unique repertiore are the innovative original songs by Troy Jamison. Though new in their age, and fresh in their approach, these songs feel as though they could've been been written in the same era from which their inspiration is drawn. Backed perfectly by the stellar playing of Eric and Donte, and the sublime vocals of Candace, it's these songs that leave a lasting impression on the audience, and bring them back again and again.

The Violet Fire is a band. Sort of. Matthew is the only one in it and all of the songs are written and recorded in a garage studio. The Violet Fire, dubbed MIXTAPE ROCK, is a kaleidoscope of everything from the raw grit of heavy rock, the melodic and rustic charms of folk, the infectious hooks of pop, the heartbreaking sorrow of ballads, and beyond. You'll tap your feet, you'll feel all warm and fuzzy, then you'll get plastered to the wall.

What words might best describe the overall sound of this very entertaining group?
 
The act features Dave Gillespie on piano and keyboards, while Angie Sanders handles the vocal duties.  Their sound is rounded out with the recent addition of Marty Walker on drums and percussion, (who also performs with the very popular Johnson Brothers Band).As a duo, (or trio), their sound can best be described as a mix of jazz, blues, some motown and hip, contemporary.  The music swings with a fresh energy and yet, can be laid back, with a nice, mellow groove.  It is music that is easy to listen to, and readily familiar, consisting of an array of classic, jazz standards as well as unique interpretations of modern, pop music.  The style is guaranteed to please a variety of musical tastes.  It is energetic and lively, and yet, not overpowering, and can be especially suited to a more intimate setting, if required.  Either way, Dave, Angie and Marty, can provide your establishment or soiree with a very entertaining mix of swinging, dynamic music and good times, guaranteed to please just about everyone.
 
Dave has played extensively throughout the area as a jazz/cocktail pianist for nearly 36 years.  In the late 1970’s he was the keyboard player for “Gary Oliver and the Main Squeeze,” a very popular, local rock band.  In the 1980’s, he toured the southwest, and later, was the featured pianist at the Hyatt Regency in Lexington, performing six nights a week.  Following that stint, he was a popular fixture, performing nightly at Lexitalia Ristorante, which at the time, was the premiere Italian restaurant in Lexington.  In addition to his long term performance commitments, he has performed in numerous venues, both as a soloist, and as part of various rock and jazz ensembles.  He also wrote and recorded music for various commercial jingles, heard on radio and television in the 1980’s.  Despite his busy performance schedule, he was able to earn both a Bachelor and Master’s degree in music, from the University of Kentucky.  Dave continues to be a regular performer here in town, and is currently the director of the piano program at SCAPA Bluegrass, a performing arts, magnet public school in Lexington Kentucky.
 
Angie Sanders is a very gifted and versatile song stylist, who has sung extensively throughout the area for the last 16 years, performing in a number of contemporary pop groups.  Her repertoire includes everything from Motown to Country, from R & B and Classic Rock, to Blues and Jazz.  An attractive singer and performer, she participated and performed in the Miss Kentucky Beauty Pageant in 1993, 1994 and 1995.  Before that, she sang in the prestigious, and selective, University of Kentucky Women’s Choir and later, joined several local, popular bands.  Her distinctive voice has also been featured on several local, commercial jingles.

Dave and Angie began their successful collaboration about 3 years ago.  Currently, they enjoy a regular engagement at the Julep Cup in the Woodlands.  They have also performed at Metropol, the Bigg Blue Martini, the Trust Lounge, Parlay Social, Modern Mercantile and Suttons Italian restaurant, as well as various private functions.  As a duo (or trio), they are sure to be a crowd pleaser and will be the perfect complement for any enjoyable evening of fine music. Born in 1979 in Lexington Kentucky, at the age of 2 Eric received his first (Muppets) drum kit, by age 3 he was dictating movie scripts! Quickly teaching himself how to play a bunch of different instruments, by the age 11, he received his first Fostex cassette based 4-track and began his engineering/solo artist career. 

At the age of 15, living in North Carolina, Eric convinced his high school and school board to allow him night-time acsess to the school to shoot his first horror film! 

Around the same time, while being the frontman for the N.C. punk band DUNGGRIN (1995), Eric was making his own full records and giving them out to his friends Under the band name M.P.D.. He also continued playing in bands in N.C. (Drummer for DOCTOR HEIMLICH AND HIS MANEUVERS [1996], THE LOCAL SKANKS [1999]). 

He moved back to Kentucky in 2000 and in 2003 completed 6 songs, which became his last official non-film related record! It was appropriately titled "Six"!

It was also at this time that Eric make the decision to put music on hold to focus on his film career.

He met legendary cut KY film-maker Jerry Williams and went on to spend the next 3 years making "Zeppo: Sinners from Beyond the Moon!" with him. Eric Produced, edited, played 2 main roles and did all the music for the movie, which is currently available on Amazon OnDemand!

From 2009 to 2011, Eric was the Director, Cinematographer, Editor, Executive Producer and did all of post production for the hit web series Girl/Girl Scene. After making the 8 episodes of season one, Eric decided to take a break from film and come back to music!

In 2012 he released his 2003 EP "Six" on-line and is now back in the studio working on what will become his first official solo release ever!

A Dj/Producer from Lexington Ky. Playing now for more than seven years and producing for three. Moving out of the country side to explore and take his trade just that much further. Being a leading Dj in Lexington club scene with residency's like places such as, Hugo's ultra lounge and Lower 48. His traveling and ties with friends in the music industry keep him tuned to what is hot and inspires him to remix to the greatest electro and club mixes. Not only with club remix's his mashups and scratch infested sets make the show that much more electrifying.   

David Robert Lee is a 21 yr old music artist from Lexington, KY – a rising hub of southeast indie hiphop/rap. First influenced by Lil Wayne, he started writing and performing at age 13 and continued to develop his skill during nightly freestyle rap sessions with his best friends and members of LexTown Operation throughout his high school years. Inspired by gifted talents, J. Cole and Kendrick Lamar,Eminem, Mac Miller and Logic, he created a home recording studio in 2015, sharpening his skill and voice in the conscious rap community. He has been featured on four albums, including Kingtucky, Break Loops and B-Sides and Legacy: Devine Carama’s Greatest Hits as well as Jone$y and Cobb Ransomm Present: 12 Nights of Lexmas in 2016. Deeply impacted by the sudden death of his father in the fall of 2015 and the murder of his best friend and music producer Caleb Hallett in January 2016, he released his first mixtape, 3D, a deep discussion of life, death, love, pain and what it means to be a conscious human being, on April 16, 2017.

The Sundown Service is a Lexington, KY based group that has forged an original sound of psychedelia-infused blues based rock.
