The Vision arrive with their first original output, where the Bristol-Boston collab deliver a soulful dose of house goodness. The release from genre defying musician Ben Westbeech and crate digger royalty KON also features Ben’s long-time collaborator Andreya Triana, whose powerhouse vocals you may recognise from Breach’s ‘Everything You Never Had (We Had It All)’. Opening the release is ‘Heaven’, a funk-laden and vocal-led cut destined for the dancefloor, followed by ‘Home’, a soulful lament that showcases Andreya’s flawless vocals as much as the duo’s exquisite production abilities. This release shows the music obsessed pair take inspiration from deep in their record collections, and as more releases build up in the pipeline for 2019 this is an exciting preview of things to come.

Named King of the Edit since the 1980’s, pioneering Manhattan DJ Danny Krivit’s (aka Mr K) latest delivery instils the title bestowed upon him some 30 years ago. An esteemed selector Danny’s prolific remixing and production capabilities have touched hundreds of records – with his signature flare shaping the New York City sound. Opening the two-track release is Danny edit this summer’s seminal track The Vision’s ‘Heaven’, interweaving a gloriously groovy bassline with Andreya Triana’s vocal to produce an extended, DJ friendly mix that he sent crowds wild with at Dekmental Festival. Up next, Mr K delves a little deeper into the Defected catalogue, trying his hand at The DangerFeel Newbies’ ‘What Am I Here For (Original NDATL Vocal)’. Danny’s stripped back version extends the jazzy, percussive original, as velvety smooth vocals and elegant keys bring this expressive and sophisticated release to a close.

After a year that will go down in the Glitterbox history books, five previously unreleased mixes that have soundtracked the label’s parties in 2019 get a special outing on part one of new series Glitterbox Jams. This red-hot delivery features the sought-after Catz ‘n Dogz remix of Fiorious’ ‘I’m Not Defeated’, where the Polish duo re-work this powerful call-to-resistance anthem into a synth-laden club cut. Also on the release is Mighty Mouse’s gloriously funky remix of Qwestlife’s ‘Hit It Off’, where the powerhouse vocals of Teni Tinks really shine. Disco maestro Mousse T. delivers two signature grooves, first his magnificent mash-up of Selace’s ‘So Hooked On Your Lovin’’ and ‘Bad Habit’, appropriately titled ‘Hooked On Bad Habits’, as well as the previously vinyl only E-Funk Mix of The Vision’s ‘Heaven’. Joey Negro’s Falling Into Dub Again mix of Horse Meat Disco & Kathy Sledge’s sublime summer-time hit ‘Falling Deep In Love’ also features, a perfect tool for any disco-discerning DJ.
