My cover of Lynyrd Skynyrd's Epic Free Bird. I used a backing track from guitarbackingtrack.com which only has Vocals, Bass, Drums and Acoustic Guitar laid down. I then used my iPhone plugged into a iRig HD and Amplitube. Once I found the desired sound I wanted using Amplitube's amazing selection of virtual amps and effects (including the Uni Vibe!) to record 3 electric guitar tracks. slide, rhythm and lead solo.

Sensational hip hop artist Chi City™ has been making waves worldwide with his witty lyrics and unique flow. Chi City™ has recently leased a beat by Denver CO producer Kajmir containing a sample from English rock band, Electric Light Orchestra’s ‘Mr. Blue Sky’. Included on Chi City™’s recently released promotional mix-tape Who Is Chi City?, “Mr Blue Sky” is already striking a chord on the underground charts. Other top artists who have sampled or covered “Mr. Blue Sky” include The Decemberists, The Delgados, Lily Allen, Mayer Hawthorne, and Ten Sharp, just to name a few; although, none of these have been Hip Hop artists.
Who Is Chi City? was designed to introduce Chi City™ to the industry as a talented recording artist able to produce commercial tunes as well as street-inspired gritty tracks. It is a unique compilation of club records such as “What It Is”“ produced by Mississippi-based producer Da Monsta, gritty street anthems such as “I Do This”, and catchy radio friendly tracks such as “Aw Baby” guaranteed to be a hit with the ladies. Chi City™’s version of “Mr. Blue Sky” represents the artist’s rise to new heights in the industry this year.  “When I heard the track by Kajmir, there was just something about it. I had to use it.” explains Chi City™, “To me, Mr. Blue Sky represents rising above the status quo and doing what others say you can’t or will never do.”
 
Originally, “Mr. Blue Sky” is a song by the English rock group Electric Light Orchestra, featured on the band’s seventh studio album Out of the Blue (1977) written and produced by front-man Jeff Lynne. After a two week period of writer’s block dampened by the inclement weather in Switzerland, Lynne was suddenly inspired to write “Mr. Blue Sky” following a break in the weather when the entire area was bathed in sunshine. “It was dark and misty for 2 weeks, and I didn’t come up with a thing. Suddenly the sun shone and it was, ‘Wow, look at those beautiful Alps.’ I wrote Mr. Blue Sky and 13 other songs in the next 2 weeks.”, says Lynne during a BBC Radio interview.
 
Electric Light Orchestra’s “Mr. Blue Sky” was the third Billboard Hot 100 top-40 single to be taken from Out of the Blue, peaking at number 35 in the United States. The single also reached number six on the UK Singles Chart. In 2003, the song was featured in commercials for the Volkswagen convertible Bug. The song was also used in various commercials for Sears as well as the theme song to the short-lived series on NBC called LAX which starred Heather Locklear and Blair Underwood as the runway and terminal managers, respectively. ‘Mr. Blue Sky’ was used in the Jim Carrey movie Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind and is also featured in the movie Martian Child with John Cusack and the animated film Megamind starring Will Ferrell, Brad Pitt, and Tina Fey.

Robert Tepper is an American songwriter, recording artist and sporadically active singer, best known for his hit song "No Easy Way Out" from the Rocky IV motion picture soundtrack.

Born in Bayonne, New Jersey, Tepper moved to New York where he became a staff writer. He paired up with fellow singer Benny Mardones, and together they wrote Mardones' hit ballad "Into the Night," which earned them a Grammy Awards nomination. Tepper worked with Mardones on writing the latter's follow-up album Too Much to Lose in 1981.

In 1985, Tepper signed with Scotti Brothers and moved to Los Angeles. Actor/director Sylvester Stallone was taken with Tepper's song "No Easy Way Out," which subsequently led to its inclusion in the movie Rocky IV. "No Easy Way Out" climbed into the Top 40, reaching #22 on Billboard's Hot 100 in 1986, and momentarily putting Tepper in the public eye. Several European labels, including Ministry of Sound, released "No Easy Way Out" with their own dance versions, resulting in regular airplay on German radio stations that continues today (in particular evening dance and party programming in Munich featured on Charivari 95.5 and Radio Gong 96.3). The heavy metal group Bullet For My Valentine also recorded the song in 2008. Tepper released two solo albums for Scotti Bros. Records, but both albums received little promotion from the label. In 1986, one year after Rocky IV, another song from Tepper's debut album (titled No Easy Way Out) called "Angel of the City" became the main song of Stallone´s film Cobra. Also in 1986, he co-wrote the single "Le Bel Age" for Pat Benatar, which peaked at #54 on the Billboard charts. A second album, Modern Madness was released in 1988. He went on to join the classic hard rock group Iron Butterfly for a few years. His third solo album No Rest For The Wounded Heart was released exclusively in Europe in 1996 on the MTM Music label.

In 2009, Sony/BMG re-released his first two albums digitally.

In recent years, he ventured into writing music for television and film, and collaborated on a musical. In 2012, he released his fourth solo album titled New Life Story. The music is a departure from the big rock sound of the 1980s and has been described as "acoustic, singer/songwriter with an electric tinge." Tepper has 5 children and currently resides with his wife in Los Angeles, California.
