Both of our mamas cry, but we’re caught in the same frame.
Gun smoke’s a cloak, and it chokes our unity,
Lookin’ through the lenses, can’t you see the community?
Hug each other tight while the world’s fallin’ apart,
Let’s drop these chains, man, it’s time to restart.
See the children playin’, they don’t know the dread,
Let’s raise ‘em with love instead of livin’ with lead.

We’re gonna be another endangered species,
On the edge of extinction, got our own self-persecution.

Bodies dropping like flies, reaching for the sky,
With every fallen brother, we just askin’ why.
We marching down the streets, there’s a fire in our hearts,
A peaceful assembly, let’s make a brand-new start.
Talk to the man, show him we’re smart,
We don’t need violence, just a plan and some art.
Strength in our numbers, power in our voice,
Change is comin’ fast, now it’s time to make a choice.

I saw her by the lake,
It was my fishing day,
She was eating a piece of cake,
But her body's mood seemed gray.

She kept looking down into the water,
Tears glistening like the dew,
A tragedy echoing clear,
I wish that I could break through.

In the dark water, we drown our sorrows,
Searching for light in the cold,
Take my hand, we'll face tomorrow,
Let the stories of love unfold.

I reached out, made a bold move,
Tried to lift her heavy heart,
Feeling lost yet wanting to soothe,
In this moment, we won’t drift apart.

“Sorry for how you may be feeling,
But you'll find nothing in the dark water,
Trust in the love that’s revealing,
Whispers of hope will gently falter.”

Her voice broke like the morning light,
“It’s my daughter's birthday today,
A longing so deep, it grips me tight,
With each memory, I sway.”

In the dark water, we drown our sorrows,
Searching for light in the cold,
Take my hand, we'll face tomorrow,
Let the stories of love unfold.

Faith in the above will dry the tears,

Down in the bayou where the tall cypress grow,
Louisiana's rhythm, oh, it plays just like a show. 
With that Creole blood, hear the stories unfold,
Each strum of my guitar, like the tales that were told. 
The evenings glow, with fireflies in flight, 
While we gather 'round, singin’ through the night.

Got the bayou country blues running through my veins,
With a bottle of Bywater, I’m forgettin’ my pain.
In a two-step groove, Let’s dance and rejoice,
Together in harmony, we all find our voice.

We’re a patchwork quilt, each color shines bright, 
With laughter and love, we come alive in the night. 
No matter the skin, our hearts beat the same, 
In the music we make, we’re all playin’ the game.
So grab your partner, let the good times roll, 
With Mississippi mud in our hearts and our soul.

The moonlight’s dancin’ on the river so clear, 
As the world melts away, there’s nothin’ to fear. 
A melody rises, it’s sweet as the breeze, 
While the rhythm of life brings us all to our knees.
The fiddles are crying, a soulful refrain, 
In this bayou wonderland, we’re right in our lane.
