Aeon | Ioannina School Of Music Promo Track

Back in 1818, at St Nicholas parish church in Oberndorf the Christmas carol "Silent Night" was performed for the first time by Franz Xaver Gruber and Joseph Mohr. In March 2011 the song was declared an intangible cultural heritage. Until today many artists have recorded this song in many ways and this version is simply another contribution of my interpretation on this Christmas carol.

Special thanks to Chrysa Sidiropoulou for the vocal samples she provided on such short notice.

The Sirens

This track can be considered simply as enlightenment! There is not much that I can say about this track... The idea was an abstract set of melodies combined using echoing delays and the rest such as the beat and the atmosphere just followed. That track was laid down in a single day and it was fine tuned the day after. This one is definitely doesn't sound like the usual me, though I admit it became one of my favorite works really fast. Maybe is because this time I used a different approach when it come to arrangement and programming.. I've ended up with a 4 tabs patch in Lemur just for that track (special thanks to that person who patiently stayed there for hours and watched me program those interfaces)

Year Zero - Constant Motion

Every once in a while I go back to my backups hard drive where all my god forsaken unfinished work is "buried". Some time somewhere back in 2010 I started to lay down this track. It turned to be a bit different that the version you can listen to here, most likely because of my different state of mind back at that time, but still the key elements remain. A soft and maybe a bit dark ambient atmosphere, definitely more cinematic in terms of harmony and maybe texture and a minimal beat. I hope you enjoy it and feel free to give me some feedback by commenting or however this huge social-network-thing works for you!

Year Zero - An Abundant Amount Of Time

"A Source Of Light" is the latest addition to the "Year Zero" Album. I consider this as the evolution of the track "http://soundcloud.com/panosla/sky" 
 because it was made out of the same set and share the same characteristics. "A Source Of Light" is a peaceful and calm track, with a soothing atmosphere, echoing sounds with a minimal approach on melody and harmony.

Recently "Year Zero" launched a Facebook page to keep in touch with everyone appreciate this project and spread the word so if you feel like keeping in touch and on track with "Year Zero" a simple like should be on its way.

Year Zero - A Source Of Light

"There Is No Shades Of Gray" is the track that marks the completion of the "Year Zero" project. There is not much that I can say about it. I just hope you all enjoy it. The album is going to be released somewhere between December (2012) and January (2013) at all major music e-shops and it will be composed by remastered versions of the tracks already contained in this promo.

We live in the future by trying to convince our selves that we got everything under control by planning and scheduling whilst we gaze to our precious past for knowledge and experience. The funny thing is that while we think we live and everything goes fine, we elude the idea that what we actually do is simply to exist in the present, quietly and lifeless. As if life is a big highway that we drive on, moving forward and instead of enjoying the ride we simply give a glimpse every now and then on the mirror to see what it was in front of your eyes just a moment ago.
