This is a snippet recorded from a longer set, starting at 4am and ending around 10am (after which I was joined for a b2b session by the enigmatic Chaz).

The BLLNBSSMNT was, and still is, my favourite place to play in the world. Decked out with incredible sound, a gorgeous Rane rotary and most importantly, the finest individuals ever to grace a dance floor. 

I, and many others, will miss this place immensely. It played a huge role in the coming together of many underground people in the community, and was truly a place where you never had to worry about anything. 

At the BSSMNT, you were always welcomed with a smile. 

Long live the kangaroo ranch.

Flipside #12 invites Platida, a fresh face in the electronic music scene. Half Greek half Romanian, she slowly morphed from record collector and dancer to DJing. Currently based in Berlin, she mostly moves around minimal, electro & breakbeat, but you can also find her delve into ambient-downtempo sets at various radio shows and festivals. Tune in for her take on ambient and downtempo, showcasing her softer side.

So after much deliberation I’ve finally decided to upload the recording of my set from Freerotation this year.
I was thinking to edit out the imperfections such as record skipping, or where I had the high pass filter turned up without realising (one reason I don’t get on with Allen & Heath), but instead I’ve left it raw, as it was heard on the night, because the atmosphere was electric, saturday night, smack in the middle of this wonderful festival, the room was going off!!! This is a set I won’t ever forget playing, it’s not perfect and my levels are all over the place, but the recording perfectly captures the magical vibes circulating the dance floor that night, and the strength of this outweighs any need to worry about my mistakes, so here it is, hope you enjoy it as much as I did playing it.

For Franco, music is one of life’s vital necessities, granting him intimate access to higher states of consciousness. Franco comes from a long lineage of family musicians, imbued with the sound of music since the beginning. Exploration of truly eclectic and divergent influences spanning krautrock, free jazz, psychedelia, experimental rock and many more, resulted in experimenting with various forms of music practices. His deeply spiritual relationship with music nurtures the worldly sounds emanating from his creativity, a balanced aesthetic that is guided by trust and the relinquishing of predetermined outcomes. The result is a space of dreamtime liminality and subtle ceremonial motifs.
