Hey y'all, so here is the penultimate song for my current backlog. I was inspired to make a toby-styled Papyrus genocide theme and I did my best to make this one sound like it could actually fit in Undertale. Retaliation is where folk rock spirit and heavier colours meet the hard decision to fight back. The folk and folk rock core keeps reminding you who these people are at heart: communal, melodic, rooted, peaceful by nature. Gentle wind lines and softer phrases keep saying the same thing in different ways: our actions now are about defending the land, not about who we truly are inside.

Against that, alternative metal and progressive rock elements push the music into a darker, bloodier register. Riffs and heavier hits carry the weight of what must be done, underscoring that no one involved is naïve about the gravity of these choices. Cinematic surges feel like waves of resolve rising and breaking. Throughout, a soothing melodic voice keeps returning, as if to reassure: we were never the aggressors, our response is justified, keep going, you will prevail. The contrast between rock and metal tension and the underlying kind hearted folk character becomes a musical justification, saying that left to their own lives these people would never have chosen this path, but now they have no other option.

About the album

Retaliation is Movement VIII of Whirl: Ukraine in Sound, an instrumental cinematic and neo classical suite with symphonic metal intensity and Eastern European folk and Balkan colour. Across 15 movements the album follows a journey from peace to war, through loss and mourning, and toward a scarred return to calm, written from the perspective of those living through aggression rather than watching from afar.

Exaggerated is a temporal upgrade of Celega's Math Rock. Originally conceived in 2014, the track has been reinterpreted and reborn with a surgical remastering that maximizes every detail.

The sound is built on pronounced dynamics and extreme transparency. Expect intense stereo separation, essential for articulating the complexity of the drums and guitars. The low-end is precise and punchy, ensuring the bass marks the syncopation with total clarity.

The mix features pristine clarity, revealing intricate guitar lines and sharp digital artifacts (glitches, stutters) as crisp, punctual events. An auditory experience that demands full attention, concluded with an abrupt and clean cut.

A jar of fuckin chocolate spread and a box of chocolates my sister bought me. My one main present, a second monitor, ended up having the issue of having an EU power cable instead of a UK one when arriving so hell yeah gotta wait longer for that. Mario 3DW doesn't arrive till the 12th and the rest of my presents was money for driving lessons. So yeah.
Still having an alright day so oh well.
