Reload Black's unstoppable juggernaut rolls on with another weaponized release, this time from London-based Jason Fernandes, presenting his latest three-track offering, titled 'A Few Days Of Madness'. The title-track serves as the opener, with a rumbling bassline and obvious spoken word passages running throughout the affair, as haunting riffs and tasty stabs take center stage. 'Can't Sleep' is toned up just a bit and the focus shifts to the busy rhythm section and streamlined electronics, while accompanied by reverberating metallic chords. The EP closes with the even more esoteric 'Lying By Omission', where looped-out bleeps and dark, melodic overtones all come together to form a spooky vibe with the distressed synths barely being contained in the production confines. Berlin’s cult techno duo Exercise One release their newest 12” featuring 3 tracks. One track is reminiscent of the past, one track gazes at the future, and a final time defying remix by Locked Groove.

Spending their early years absorbed in the goth culture and IDM scene, Exercise One (aka Marco Frievogel and Ingo Gansera) takes a playful approach to techno - one that spans the vibrance of the Kreuzberg DIY punk vibe. Marco and Ingo met in Berlin while they both worked for !K7 and began to play together, experimenting and producing. They've gone on starting up their own label Lan Muzic (with releases from Donato Dozzy, Peter Van Hoesen and Philip Sherburne) and released off other labels such as Mobilee Records, Mater, Dumb Unit, Soniculture and more.

‘Timetrap' was originally a dark horse sitting on Exercise One's back catalog. They decided to go back to the original idea of the track to see where they could take it. After a few sessions in the studio, the staccato groove and eerie hook of the original is now alive within a much more powerful and demanding surrounding.  Also featured on the record is '502 last sequence' - a flashing, disintegrated, battery-acid leaking track which perfectly displays their fun-voyeur approach to dark techno.

Time Trap EP will be available July 15th via Exone.

Dreamy melody crafters Moonwalk show off their techno side as they double up with label mainstay Teenage Mutants for a split-EP. Moonwalk set the coordinates signing off the incipient track, a pensive composition boasting a steady bassline traced with scintillating whirs. Lush vocals complete the melody, while additional metallic percussive pads densen the groove, trailing off to an abrupt halt. ‘Meteora’ props a cynical mood, as grave synths interlace, gradually unraveling a crisp and straightforward arrangement.

Teenage Mutants’ first contribution comes in the shape of the tribalesque vocal infused ‘Bokawa’. Kicking off with an immersive percussion, ‘Casio’ instantly comes off as a heavy hitting, dancefloor absorbing cut. Constant blipping ticks reveal the title connection, while synth sequences cushion the groove line. Despite using an array of additional elements, the bassline remains the centerpiece and ultimately makes for an incisive earworm.

Joyce Muniz lands on Exploited on 1st August with ‘Cover Me Up’, the single taken from her forthcoming album ‘Made In Vienna’. We’ve got the exclusive play of ANNA’s remix of it above.

The original version features the honeyed vocals of Kat Vinter, but on her remix, Muniz’ fellow Brazilian ANNA turns in a weighty slab of trippy lights-out techno, complete with heavy kicks and rattling percussion.

Speaking about it, she says, “The original is deeper and has a strong focus on the vocals, I wanted to make it more underground, still keeping the deep vibe but with a different kind of energy.”

Such is the volume of quality music Adam Beyer receives throughout the course of the year, releasing all of it would be impossible. Enter the blue chip A-Sides series: a chance for the quality-obsessive label head to issue a collection of outstanding tracks that couldn’t fit in their regular EP release schedule. 

With an eye on future talent, as much as the label’s established roster of heavy-hitters, the compilation showcases the full breadth of Drumcode’s multifaceted techno sound, equal parts inspiring and functional. 

Led by the stealth techno funk of ‘Nine of You’, Beyer’s deft collaboration with Mark Reeve, the compilation takes in exciting highlights from big guns such as Alan Fitzpatrick, Dustin Zahn, Bart Skils, Pleasurekraft, Luca Agnelli, Jay Lumen, Kaiserdisco and Gary Beck.
