Okay, you’re listening to the 23rd edition of Kompakt’s annual compilation series TOTAL… hold on… 23??? It’s impossible to look at this number without thinking of William S. The lively dance begins solemnly with KOLLMORGEN’s deep-subtle minimal gem “Muddy”. Making her debut is the wonderful ARGIA with the somewhat misleading title ‘No Concept’ – the Madrid native indeed has a very precise plan. Also, our number one hit guarantor, JÜRGEN PAAPE, is represented here with his brand-new super hit ‘Alone In Italy’. His colleague MICHAEL MAYER is also in top disco spirits with ‘Talmi’. One of the secret weapons of the current season comes from STEPHAN BARNEM & FUTURISTANT. ‘Don’t Cry’ is a passionate New Wave belter for eternity. JÖRG BURGER proclaims a new, trippy genre: Cinematic Dance, before C.A.R. & PATRICE BÄUMEL slowly raise the energy level in the ‘Four Down’ Club Mix. JOHN TEJADA then cruises calmly at the desired cruising altitude while the cabin crew serves refreshments. ‘Duration’ by BARNT/MAYER pays tribute to an artist formerly known as Prince with grand rave romanticism, and about REX THE DOG’s summer smash hit ‘Change This Pain For Ecstasy’, there’s really nothing more to say. The Thuringian force of nature ROBAG WRUHME must not be missing here, of course. ‘Fire’ once again shows him in top form, with one of the dirtiest basslines in techno history. Joining us from London is HARDT ANTOINE, who spells u n d e r s t a t e m e n t with ‘All We See’. And finally, REINHARD VOIGT feat Eduard Weber bring it all together – live from the grand Comedy Barn of folk music. Cheers!

Project Sandro - Pacific Echoes

Once a regular mainstay on Radio Slave and James Master's Rekids, the last four years have seen Spencer Parker concentrate his productions on his own label Work Them, whilst also releasing a furore of music from artists such as S:VT, Young Male and Dana Ruh. This however changes later on this month with Parker returning to Rekids for a four track EP titled No More Silly Club Songs. As the name suggests the record sees Parker adopting some straight forward dance floor business. Parker himself says “This EP is simply a collection of tracks I made around 18 months ago for my own sets. No concept, no bullshit, just some tracks to WORK the club.” His tour schedule is as busy as ever and you only have to watch a set like his Boilerroom and listen to this exclusive premiere of No.3 off the EP to understand why. Infectious with a boundless energy that really translates onto the crowd. With this being the first EP of original material on Rekids since 2011’s ‘I Think I Love You’, the release is sure garner some extensive club usage over the next couple of months.

In 1978 Bernard Fevre decided to pretty much invent cosmic disco. The former library music producer had turned his hand to deliciously dark disco a few years before, but it was underground smash 'H-Friend' that really made him a force to be reckoned with on dancefloors the globe round. Well, apart from the fact that that record was, at the time, incredibly obscure. He then went from relative obscurity to total disappearance. 

In 2004 Rephlex reissued the Disco Club EP and a star was reborn. This time around, Alter K have decided to get a tonne of great acts to give Fevre a going over for a series of EPs. 

Today we're bringing you an exclusive listen to the "dance" EP featuring remixes from Africaine 808, Turzi, DJ Tide, and the legendary Andrew Weatherall.

Fresh from the release of Phillips, his debut solo album for Running Back, Lauer, one half of Arto Mwambe, releases the Macsat Ring Down 12” for Beats In Space Records.

Like the satellite that it cites, Lauer’s “Macsat Ring Down” follows an elliptic pattern fit for infinite play on any space floor. On “Mascat”, analog space junk flies in and out of an orbital framework built upon nearly nine minutes of bubbling bass and peripheral percussion. Space boogie at its finest.

An anti-gravity exercise in repetition, Lee Douglas remixes "Macsat" for the flipside. Reaching a zen state through mantra-like looping that would make Steve Reich proud, Douglas reworks Lauer’s sounds from a delicate and pensive place to a muscular and propulsive groove. Most if not all of the synthesized glitter from the original is eventually forgone in favor of blasted percussion and an unrelenting bassline.

The digital bonus remix by The Backwoods - aka DJ Kent, one half of Tokyo’s Force of Nature - floats “Macsat” back to earth. The soulful piano that backbones the track conjures sunrises off the shores of Orion and a galactic hangover from all the space juicin’. The Backwoods brings some brawn to the original arrangement and allows alien interception by way of a mangled but melodic celestial sound choir.

Each 12" from Beats in Space Records features original artwork in considerate and serial form. BIS004 12" features artwork by Kensei Yabuno, whose mutant life form illustrations lurk in corners all over the design universe. The 12" packaging constructed by Will Work For Good features a removable vinyl BIS logo cling. The 12" will be available on September 25th, 2012 from fine retailers worldwide. The digital version will be available October 2nd, 2012 from the drab internet universe.
