For those who were asking what the mysterious mix that was put on after the DJs stopped playing outside at the Life and Death party in Art Basel, here it is. A mellow trip prepared by Greg from Thugfucker and presented here as a little thank you from all of us at Life and Death. 

It's been an amazing year and we're so very appreciative of all the support we've gotten as we've adventured forwards on this incredible musical trip together. We've got lots of exciting things planned for the year ahead (and beyond!) and we look forward to continuing together on this ride wherever it takes us.

Thanks for being there with us along the way. It really does mean the world to us...

Get Twisted Records head honcho’s Tough Love are back in the driving seat with their brand new “Bring The Heat” series. Following on from the success of recent remix’s for Le Youth, Donae’o & Jaguar Skills the boys return with fresh artillery, heavily influenced by there love for hip hop, garage, soul & of course house.

Opening track Lonely Highway shows off Tough Love’s big bumpy bass line’s that they're fast becoming known for. Its powerful 4x4 kick is backed up perfectly with skipping percussion guaranteed to keep the dance floor moving, while the classic throwback vocal provides nostalgic millennium memories, enticing the listener to sing along. A certified club banger!

Sweet memories is just that, a track for yesteryear. Tough Loves signature big bumping bass is perfectly balanced with soulful classic vocals. The track playfully teases from the very start, warm soulful pads, strings & keys eventually bring the track to its climax through the introduction of uplifting melodic chord stabs & cleverly arranged percussion. A sure favorite for nu disco & house lovers.

Love & Happiness provides a much deeper insight into Tough Loves musical production style. Its beautiful signature vocal is met with a rip roaring bass typified by their grand garage-esq drums. A cheeky occasional bass line wobble & break section exhibits their musical journey, as the fast rising duo tilt there hat to the UK Garage movement.  

Are You Blind completes this quartet of musical mayhem. Big & bold just like what we expect from the Tough Love duo. This track offers a deeper twist than previous tracks on the album, with its reminiscent verses, chopped vocal and cleverly amended hook line. Constant moving percussion & powerful organ leads prepares “Are You Blind” for any battle on the dance floor.

Third Son is a producer who recently went solo and is seeing great success as a result. Studying many different styles of composition from an early age he has a true understanding of different and diverse dance music forms and has just released his debut EP on Noir Music. 

‘Exit Music’ is a pressure building bit of tech house with lively drums, plenty of percussion tension and a tight, bobbling baseline. On the flip is Polyrhythm, a deeper and more patient tune for the dead of night. It creeps and crawls along on spooky synth lines and wavy drums as sombre chords strike a moody vibe. 

As this EP proves, Third Son is an essential talent to watch for fans of serious house grooves.

Nicky Night Time came out strong mid-2014 with his debut smash hit ‘Everybody Together’ and demolished dancefloors around the globe. Now he delivers his second single, ‘Gonna Get Better’. This slice of straight up house music with its chunky bouncing low end, heart warming piano stabs & silky vocals of Nat Dunn, feels like an early 90's house anthem you already know & love wrapped in 2015 and delivered by Onelove for the world. 

Everybody Together topped the Australian ARIA charts for five weeks running and scored an ARIA Award nomination for Best Dance Release along the way. The love rolled in from overseas too, with an inclusion on the worldwide release of Ministry Of Sound’s Annual as well as heavyweight DJs support inc. Aeroplane, The Magician and Digitalism plus BBC radio taste-makers Annie Mac and Rob Da Bank.

Of course, those who know Nicky (Nicholas Routledge on his passport) wouldn’t be too surprised. The producer/singer/guitarist’s golden touch has shone bright through his various incarnations. Since 2002, he’s fronted Sydney digital pop auteurs Van She, who cracked the ARIA Top 10 with their debut record and toured alongside indie royalty like the Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Bloc Party and Phoenix. 

Under the Van She Tech alter ego (with bandmate Michael Di Francesco), he span gold with red-hot remixes of Empire Of The Sun, Tiga, Feist, The Presets and Daft Punk. Notably, their rewiring of Utah Saints’ club weapon ‘Something Good’ crashed the UK top 10 in 2008, revitalising the classic all over again. 

And yet, Nicky Night Time is now his focus first and foremost, whether it’s partying up in the clubs or bunkering down in the studio. Over the last few months, he’s dropped a handful of high-profile remixes under his latest moniker, including re-rubs of Shadow Child and Doorlys’ aptly-titled ‘Piano Weapon’, Tiga’s techy triumph ‘Bugatti’ and Gorgon City’s latest featuring Jennifer Hudson ‘Go All Night’.

They’re the perfect primer for ‘Gonna Get Better’. Blending his potent talent and boundless passion for the genre, the new material guarantees he’ll be one of house music’s hottest properties in 2015.

JackLNDN is one part classical technician and two parts main room club surgeon.  He’s simultaneously a mixture of centuries of European musical heritage and a sneak preview of the future.

As a producer and DJ, he has quickly established himself as a character whose work is quickly drawing attention for its freshness and whose potential is seemingly endless.  In his time on earth, LNDN has spent more time performing and playing music than most do in a lifetime.

On the production side, he started gleaning tips from friend Harry Wolfman and combined that with his knowledge of Logic and other bits of his training. Ever since, he has been slaving away in the studio, developing a variety of his unique strains of dance music. The linchpin of the sound has always been house, but filtered through an ever-evolving set of lenses: progressive, pop, jazz, and beyond.

An intriguing new sound arising from eastern shores of Europe got caught as our latest addition to the free download series. It comes from Bucharest, Romania by an artist that goes by the name Atapy. His intense new production 'Vibra' is up for your taking. 

Since just five years ago, his career has been firmly on the rise with likes of M.A.N.D.Y., H.O.S.H., Ritchie Hawtin, Dubfire, Tom Budden, Djuma Soundsystem or the frech legend, Laurent Garnier, himself. The year of the rise for Arpi Takacs (aka Atapy) was 2011, starting with his previous key releases on his own Cimelde label and Get Physical, alongside his collaborations with (among others): Noir, Louisahhh!!! or Cari Golden, reworking The XX and the legendary Knight Rider theme (personally highly recommended to check that one out).

Quality, not quantity is claimed to be the aim of Atapy , and indeed his real is becoming more and more solid, with his tracks gaining depth and seriousness, distinctive to the Romanian artist. Such as one is one of his last tracks - Vibra. Ethereal and intriguingly uncomfortable, like a scene from a movie of Lars von Trier, this hypnotic track is rounded with the correct balance of all the elements, that lead you through a narrative with its opening, culmination and its close.

Forth in the Hot Waves compilation series kick’s off the new year in style with this eight track vinyl double pack with some hot, hot licks! The Hot Creations offshoot has gone from strength to strength and this Hot Waves volume does little to disappoint.

The A side features Leed’s legend Buckley combing with Ives St. Ange on vocals to produce the most infectious slice of genre defying hip-house you’ll this year, ridiculously hooky you’ll be humming it until summer.. woot woot! Buckley shares the A side with house stalwarts Simon Baker and Rob James as they combine with England Brooks to deliver a slice of hot house pie best served straight up… no chaser!

On the flip and hot on the heels of the huge ‘Pain ‘n’ Love’ EP released on Hot Creations early in 2012, HNQO team up with Bip for the hotly anticipated ‘City Lights’. Already highly sought after and heavily championed this is another sure-fire hit from Henrique. Next up is house hero Lil Mark, previous recording for Classic and Disco 45, Mark delivers an ice cold a slice of killer house. ‘Fate & Destiny’ is a truly timeless piece of house that is simply devastating on the floor!

The C Side witnesses another house legend; Filthy Rich deliver the monstrous ‘Do It Again’. Rich has been releasing records since the mid 90’s and this is testament to his skills as a producer, proper chi-town business. Also featured on this side is Jamie Jones edit of Alexis Raphael’s ‘Rave’. Another huge record that will have you jacking like a maniac, proper rave!

Finally the forth side of this salubrious double pack features LA Based band Human Life teaming up with Anabel England who sang on Lee Foss’s recent Electricity track with MK. ‘Falling’ is an emotive electronic torch song with Anabel’s stupendous voice. Finally Tom Ruijg produces a dirty jacking, break beat colossus of a track, ‘S For Sticky’ is another absolute killer to round off this fantastic double pack.
