Following his widely supported debut collaborative release last February, LeftLeft has returned with his first solo release, DBGI003. This three-tracker encapsulates three distinctive, enchanting environments, constantly ensuring movement provided by the characteristically heavily swung groove. Evermore, his intriguing productional touch signals Leftleft as a master of his craft, whose labour you can hear in the new worlds which we can only surrender to and enjoy.

The first track, Bockie, is a fantastic underwater paradise scape littered with fidgety conga finger rolls and melodic clanks. Right Under, a glittery, rim scattered shapeshifting sci-fi stomper, blends bending bells, gerbil melodies and alien toad wobs. Humming, the final track, is an effortless dance-floor aquarium tour, anthemic echo blaster which transports you to the outer reaches on a newly paved highway.

Premiere: Max Ulis ‘Detroit Tale (ft. Khari McClelland)’

West Coast Canada producer and DJ Jesse Bru, as well as being a regular on SlothBoogie Records, has been releasing his twist on contemporary house via the likes of Happiness Therapy, Pulse Msc and Inhale Exhale amongst others in recent years.

Here we see him team up with fellow Vancouver-based artist Max Ulis, who also operates as one half of the duo Sabota.

‘Banh Mi’ leads the way and much like the Vietnamese delicacy itself lays down a delectable soul-infused feel filled with dubbed out chords, distorted drums, and vocal chants.

‘Moisture Cult’ follows and retains a similarly dubbed out feel, fusing spiralling stab echoes and pulsating subs with shuffled drums.

‘TBH’ then shifts focus over to a modern electro feel with crunchy 808 drums, snaking arpeggio lines, resonant leads, and elongated subs.

‘Semblance’ which twists and turns through choppy breaks, intricately intertwined bass stabs, plucked synths and airy atmospherics before

‘Big Chirp’ rounds out the release on a raw house tip with swinging drums, squelchy acid bass tones and sweeping ethereal pads.

Impatience had got the better of them, it felt as though they'd been waiting around for an eternity for something to happen. The longer they waited, the slower time seemed to pass; a minute felt like an hour and an hour like a day. A change had to come soon, chronic boredom would inevitably set in and before too long they'd become sick of each other's presence. They were tired of playing the waiting game.

Vancouver-based label Club Designs have announced their third VA release, and the second shining a light on fresh electro sounds. Having previously paid homage to the sounds of ghetto house, the imprint now turn their attention back to the Detroit genre with eight artists showcasing their take on it through a modern lens. Label bosses Garneau and Sharkki deliver tracks, alongside their label mate Dj Failure, and several new artists including Ghostwhip, Partick Cure, Stuster, Max Ulis and Destrata.

The sound reverberated and danced as if it were under the possession of some strange outside spirit or influence. It echoed and pierced the ears as it grew louder and louder. The anticipation was too much for some who began to exit through the small door at the top of the room. Those who were more committed waited in observation of the risers' ode. 

The scientists conducting the experiment were brave in their approach - few had tried to breach the wall of sound before, testing the very limits of circumstance and noise. 

Soon they might hit fever pitch.

Sha Ru are a New York via Berlin based duo made up of Masha and Ru. Sha Ru are two musicians in constant flux, always discovering new iterations of themselves. Future facing, bass heavy loops and reverberating vocals mark a new era for the band one defined by artistic autonomy, intimacy and experimentation.

The pair are set to release a new EP on Jupiter4 - an intriguing assortment of electronic experiments.

Mossambi makes his return to All Centre to follow up the stunning debut Resurf EP from the beginning of 2023. On The AI Told Me To, he delivers 3 more experimental techno exertions backed by a heavy-duty club remix from Holloway.

Reptate opens proceedings with otherworldly vocals stuttering over Mossambi’s distinctively inventive sound design. The track enters an off-kilter, compelling groove composed of deep kicks, growling subs and snippets of microtonal melodies, building up and playing out like an extra-dimensional take on dubstep.

The title track keeps up the momentum with deep kicks and shuffling hats, allowing a lush choral pad to stutter and proliferate amongst the percussive intricacies. The chord is manipulated, filtered and triggered in unpredictable patterns as the track progresses, keeping the listener on their toes whilst Mossambi holds down a transfixing groove.

Mossambi’s final track, Miscellaneous Vegetable Platter, slows things down to a hypnotic 110 bpm pace. A disorienting blend of scrambled vocals, fried digital synths and dubbed-out bass and chord hits are kept in check by steady drums, whilst a frenzied snare roll pushes and pulls at the track’s intensity as the track progresses, crafting an engrossing low-tempo workout.

Holloway translates Mossambi’s glitched vocals and heady sound design onto a ferocious four-to-the-floor groove. A warbling bassline bubbles underneath driving percussion, whilst a syncopated hard house siren brings the energy levels to a fever pitch.
