Originally from York, based in London, North is a Songwriter & Vocalist.

Hailed from the sun-drenched Mediterranean island of Sicily, vocalist, rapper and producer Davide ‘Shorty’ Sciortino had a vision to bring back the love. Gathering a tight knit family of similarly soul-centric musicians from his homeland, along with superbly poised Parisian co-vocalist Leslie Phillips, they formed Retrospective For Love London-side and a special force in music was born. 

Retrospective For Love are a seven-piece band weaving together undeniable, infectious melodies stretching across the stratosphere of Hip-Hop, Soul, and Jazz styles, whilst adding a little 21st century electronic mastery into the mix. Bringing a laid back, comfortable cool to the stage, live performances reach out and grab the spirit – with a dynamism and natural ear for dance floor groove sitting alongside classic romanticism. 

Akin to the sound D’Angelo might make tripping out on the heavy grooves of The Roots whilst intoxicated by Robert Glasper’s experimental spirit, Retrospective For Love take the energy of their influences and move it in new directions. Seemingly innocuous lyrics mask tales of love’s most elating and harrowing extremes, capturing the good times, the bad times and all the confusion in between. 

Played out as a symbiotic creative collective of enlightened minds, the tone is always optimistic - forever wedded to pure aural bliss and classic entertainment.

Nick Whitcroft is an experienced and accomplished vocalist, having progressed from a childhood of choir singing to life as a confident and atmospheric performer. He currently writes, records and performs material for numerous projects and is available as both a session artist and private vocal coach.

In his time fronting Rugby-based alternative rock band, Void Illusion, Nick toured the UK and the Netherlands, playing such venues as the O2 Academy Birmingham and the Leamington Assembly. He went on to front the rock band Fahran (distributed by Cargo Records). During his time with Fahran, Nick played and/or worked with a range of artists, including Heaven's Basement, I Am I and Sondura, as well as performing at festivals such as Download, Bloodstock and BT London Live for the 2012 Olympic Games.

With over a decade of training under his belt, Nick is experienced across all manner of genres, including rock, metal, prog, pop, funk, soul and blues, and relishes working with all manner of individuals and organisations for both stage and studio work. He cites contemporary artists such as Myles Kennedy, Rob Thomas and Chris Cornell as a driving force in reaffirming for him the capacities of a modern-day performer to draw upon the assets of classics such Stevie Wonder, Marvin Gaye and John Lennon.

Nick stands out as a singer with not only the drive and passion to create rich, emotionally-driven material, but also the commercial outlook to help see his music through to a new age of the industry, as he brings his versatile sound to the UK market.

“As a singer, what is important to me is striving for a fresh and original sound and stepping into new territory to develop my voice above and beyond what it already lets me do. Music is a craft that takes blood, sweat, tears and a hell of a lot of caffeine but creating something that everyone in the room can identify with on an entirely different level is incomparable.”
