We gladly introduce for the 11th edition: https://soundcloud.com/ckbaudio who is a prolific producer and sound engineer that have been making noise recently. Now based in Leeds, the Canadian has spent over a decade exploring both contemporary and leftfield production techniques, working meticulously to strike a healthy balance between the two. His latest vinyl release on Ukrainian imprint Modeight, run by Silat Beksi, confirms the expertise of the artist : 4 perfect minimal tools, solid grooves and drum lines sprinkled with airy and subtle atmospheres.

ckb opens his performance with a magic breakbeat and plays with a tempo downfall that make the first drop super efficient. The percussive and organic flavour of the tracks prevail, along with incredible sound design artifacts—whether it is a small indistinct vocal or a twisted occasional stab, everything is sounds really, really tight. The audience is always surprised by the apparition of atonal musique concrète hits that resonates in a clever spatialization. 

The selection is also grounded into reality with sonic soundscapes that are very visual: an ominous fog horn evokes a battalion going to war. Really mature and sophisticated, the artist story is also seamless and practical. This precision feeds the energy that builds-up track after track, and that is released through unusual powerful drops.
With his audio engineer background, ckb is definitely standing out from the crowd and sets a high standard in the minimal sphere.

Covaliu sets the tone in the minimal spectrum with a magisterial opening: traditional instruments and delicious piano hints support off-key stretched vocals over a firework of tiny details. Less is more is the motto here: very subtle textures oscillate in an organic feel, with sharp hi-hats on the top. Percussive abstract minimal slowly develops into sophisticated deep grooves, where each element adds to a bigger complex picture. Bending sounds talk straight to the soul while a specific motif detaches from the rest of the selection: those crazy indistinct vocals come and go until the very end of the set. It consolidates the pertinent selection through a flowing mix. The artist creates a really interesting contrast between abstract elements and melodic touches, such as classical instruments chops, a dissonant piano or even surreal pads and beautiful synths. While the distorted vocals appear here and there again, we get caught in groovy rominimal gems with endless groove. The choice of the last track is always delicate, but this one is certainly an amazing pick, leaving the listener on a remarkable positive and groovy vocal note.
