Having recently collaborated for '14,000 km Away’, Berlin's Philip Bader now makes his solo debut for Davide Squillace's boundary pushing This And That imprint with a 5 track EP named ‘Funkey Feeling’ - set for release on 22nd December. 

The EP opens with ‘Julia’, a perfect combination of driving beats and snapping high hats, showcasing Bader’s technically proficient production. 'Yeppa' follows, and crafts a true dancefloor killer with signature pounding drums and intelligently structured effects, whilst ‘Walking Away’ takes the EP into a dark, atmospheric direction. Title track 'Funkey Feeling’ rounds off the EP, and as the title suggests is a more upbeat offering that adds a distinct groove to proceedings - with eclectic Barcelona-based duo Haiku 575 providing a melodic remix of their own.

The label's clear focus on combining the worlds of art, culture and music provide a perfect platform for 'Funkey Feeling's' deep, techno sound, with release artwork specifically commissioned by This and That. Continuing their longstanding relationship with art collective Galleria Fonti, Angolean artist and photographer Kiluanji Kia Henda was distinguished by the magazine Foreign Politics as one of the Leading Global Thinkers of 2014, and his work aims to draw attention to issues of race, power dynamics and global relations. 

With a steady output of releases on esteemed labels such as Get Physical, Saved and Moon Harbour, Philip's latest EP for This And That is a direct reflection of his explorative approach to production. Having received widespread support from the likes of Santé, Anja Schneider, Pirupa and many more, 'Funkey Feeling' takes Philip into 2015 with strong ammunition for the dance floor.

Following on from our milestone 100th release earlier this year from one of our all-time favourite DJ and producers; Ninetoes, we welcome back the German talent to the label, this time with an exclusive remix package of his debut 'Ata' EP. Following heavy support on the original release from Solardo, Gorgon City, Claptone, Mark Knight, The Aston Shuffle, Leftwing & Kody and label boss Pirate Copy in both his DJ sets and via his Kaluki Radio show, we are pleased to present this exciting new remix package of both 'Ata' and 'Let U Go' from fellow German artist, SIS and Danish/Filipino producer, Manda Moor. Each mix brings a new and intriguing twist on the original; taking that signature Ninetoes sound and electrifying vocal stabs and adding each remix artist's own signature flair to the records, resulting in two musical masterpieces made for the dancefloor!

After the success of their last release, which saw 'Dazed' peak at number 18 on the Beatport Deep House Charts - Cerillo's Matchbox imprint kicks off 2022 with a single release from the label owner himself, equipped with a groovy deep-tech remix from fellow Irishman - Kamorah.

'Vanity' traverses the House/Techno spectrum, with Cerillo's punchy kicks, skippy hats, and deep stabs - accompanied by some addictive old-skool vocals, to create a contemporary, dancefloor-oriented hitter.

Kamorah delivers an exciting remix with a groove-driven approach to the original. It's percussive, darker, and awash with ambient and trippy sounds that lead up to an effective drop.

Davide is not available for comment. He’s got to catch a flight; he’s rushing to the studio; the stage manager is frantically hurrying him into the booth; he’s meeting to discuss plans for his labels…or any of the other myriad reasons why Davide feels like he hasn’t slept, eaten or stopped running for what seems like his whole life.

Born in Siena, raised in Naples, it took a trip to London for Davide to finally discover electronic music. Wooed by the mood and sound of the British scene, he returned to Naples flush with energy, excitement and a knowing that this new calling would consume him. 

Davide immersed himself in this world in every conceivable way. In 1999 he began studying at the Naples’ school of sound engineering, tinkering with his first productions, promoting techno events, and finally performing. His first releases on Primate Records, Design Music andConform were a cadence of his arrival and showcased the young artist’s steadfast style.

Having honed his craft at home, in 2004 Davide left Naples for Barcelona unwavering in his resolve. Now, while touring around the continent, he began to release in earnest what would become a massive body of work, and at a dizzying pace. His productions have graced the catalogs of some of the finest labels including Ovum, Sci+Tec, Morris Audio, Resopal Schallware, Supernature, CMYK, Adagio, Viva, Nervous, Saved, Shake, Rillis; the list goes on… 

Added to that, you have to take into account the labels which Davide founded and still curatestoday – Sketch, Minisketch, Vir, 500, Titbit and Hideout. 2012 sees the start of Davide’s latest innovative project. This and That Lab will be a unique fusion of label and think tank combining music, art and culture used as a platform for Davide and other like minded artists to develop creative projects in music, visual art, design, fashion and writing.

In addition to his genre-defining works, Davide continues to inspire and ignite dancefloors worldwide. Whether it be at Circoloco, where he has been a resident since 2007, Womb, Berghain, D.Edge, or any other marquee venue, Davide plays with an unequalled funk and excitement. His signature sets, revered by the masses and peers alike, do a double duty in guarding our much-loved traditions while constantly pushing them forward.

The realm of possibilities for one of electronic music’s leading lights is endless. Unfortunately, the minutes in the day are not. Davide’s answer is simple – do what you love and make no compromises.
