“The Blue Hour” is the second VA of Berlin-based THISBE Recordings, following “Black Ink” released in 2022. Curated by label owner Pyrame, the new compilation is an invitation to cruise through the blue hour, that unique time of the day from dusk to night.

During that special time lapse, as the sky goes through several shades of blue, so goes the record:

Dominik Marz´s “Bura´s Hymn” brings us straight above the Earth´s surface with a track as atmospheric as it can get, before Radial Gaze & Balam´s collab tune “Foreclosed” sets the scene for a groovy dance above the clouds.

We have already lost sight of the ground when World Wild Web initiates an immersion into an enigmatic phase of the voyage with his track “Extase”, where we do not really know in which time-space we find ourselves any more. Agle hints at a possible spot: “Sahel”, a tune that feels like a breeze across the desert, before Philip Lawns shakes everyone up with the upbeat “Johns”, bringing our feet back just above the ground. Volta Cab wraps up our imaginary trip with “Krasnodar Nights”, bringing a treat for the soul and some peace of mind. The night can now settle down.  

“The Blue Hour“ is due to drop on Friday the 27th of September 2024 on vinyl and digitally via THISBE Recordings.

Neil Parnell, better known by his stage name Tronik Youth, has been a prominent figure in the electronic music scene for over a decade. His career as a producer, remixer, and DJ began in the early 2000s, with his first major success arriving in 2006 when he remixed an unknown band at the time—The Gossip. This was just the beginning of a prolific run in which Tronik Youth went on to remix over 75 tracks and release more than a dozen singles.

In 2012, he co-founded Nein Records. Since then, the label has grown, releasing music for artists such as The Decibels and Julian Sanza/Future Feelings, alongside Tronik Youth’s own original works. His celebrated series of edits, CTRL-S, was a particular highlight, with five editions planned for release in 2014.

A DJ at heart, Neil Parnell's passion for spinning records started in his teenage years, heavily influenced by the electronic music of the 1980s. Over the course of his career, he has played in clubs across the globe, from South America and the USA to much of Europe, continually evolving but always staying true to his roots in electronic sound.

Mix №: 012 – Kurt Kjergaard

As Nick once said: "You don’t need vocals when the synths sing", and that’s the point of this track. In the hands of a master, beats and sequences of this track build up a unique collaboration.
The "Disco Mirage", presented by famous DJ and music producer, and the head of Belly Dance Services Nick Hanzo from Vienna is the one that matches this description.
Shall you not be misled by the synths that follow the whole track - they are brightly accompanied by the sounds that make the sound very cosmic, surreal and… dancey. The Disco mirage as it is, no more words.

The roots of the track remind us of the good old disco rhythms aptly seasoned by modern samples that takes the track out of time and makes it eternal.

Born in Medellín, Colombia, Osccurate has rapidly emerged as a prominent figure in the music scene. He studied music at the University of Fine Arts in Medellín and furthered his education with courses at prestigious institutions, including Berklee College of Music. His musical journey includes significant roles as a guitarist in various projects, such as Madera Jazz, Mabiland, The Virginia Valley, and Melov. He has graced renowned stages like Estadio El Campín, Festival Estéreo Picnic, Baum Park, and Kaputt, and has opened for acclaimed bands and artists, including Coldplay, Metronomy, Two Door Cinema Club, and The Blaze.
As a producer, Osccurate has been a key player in the hard techno scene in Medellín, receiving support from notable figures like Tham, Paula Temple, Roüge, and Vendex. In 2023, he embarked on a new creative direction, exploring more commercial projects with artists like Mabiland and Gero Angel, and collaborating with Grammy-nominated producer Tezzel.
In his personal project, Osccurate has transitioned from techno to indie dance, marking the start of a melodic and danceable exploration influenced by Italo disco and new wave sounds. Though still early in this new phase, he has already garnered support from DJs and producers such as Pablo Bozzi, Kendal, Infravision, Marcus Christiansen, Brandski, and Bizzarro Universe.
Osccurate has quickly established himself as a leading figure in both Colombian and international indie dance music.
