98 releases strong and showing no signs of slowing when it comes to unearthing fresh talent and delivering high quality house music, This time Crosstown Rebels might just have discovered the new lady of house in Francesca Lombardo, judging by her exquisite debut - ‘Changes EP’.

After a fateful meeting with Damian Lazarus at WMC 2011, London based DJ, Vocal Techniques graduate and classically trained pianist Francesca Lombardo began a 12 month process that has culminated in an incredibly diverse and accomplished debut EP.

Having gained over 17,000 plays in the past few months on her ‘Introducing’ podcast for Crosstown Rebels and with an album in the pipeline for the label next year, there is much excitement surrounding this musical protégée.

‘The Change’ kicks off the EP energetically, in traditional Crosstown fashion - straight up underground house aimed directly at the floor and characterised by a beasty kick drum, neatly arranged vocal snippets and a wonky synth lead.

Evolving with a more song-based quality, ‘Is It True’ moves the EP into ambient textures, sweeping the listener away into a lush, Burial-esque soundscape encapsulated with Francesca’s own haunting vocals and eerie synths, before dropping you straight back onto the dance-floor for an epic climax.

Hitting the peak time, ‘Old School Anna’ is a heads-down, motor-city style, deep house affair, and for the fourth and final cut, the electronic sculptress displays an acute skill for toying with emotions, bringing the listener back down for the ethereal intro of ‘Sofiel’, and very gradually introducing a warm, deep groove to see the EP out.

As Crosstown edges closer towards its 100th release, Francesca Lombardo upholds the indelible standard of the label, showcasing intricate technique and personal style. Effortlessly switching between dance-floor workouts and more song-based material, Francesca is a major electronic artist on the verge of global stardom.

Cup & String was an idea between two mates in 2015 who share 2 decades of friendship. What started as banter has turned into a duo producing a variety of House Music and UK garage. Coming from two very different musical backgrounds, Lukasz specialises in nu disco , and Ross is part of an international renowned drum and bass outfit. With their varied knowledge and expertise, the two have created their own sound and have charted multiple times in top 10s on Traxsource, Bp and Juno.

Since 2015 they've received support for their productions from some of the big guns of house music from the likes of Todd Terry, Grant Nelson, Miguel Migs, Little Louie Vega, Golf Clap, Kevin Yost, Saison, Richard Earnshaw + many others. The recognition doesn't stop there, in the UK Garage scene their tracks have been shown love by DJ EZ, DJ Luck & Mc Neat, The Artful Dodger, Mike Ruffcut Lloyd, Jeremy Sylvester, Mc Kie, + more, and often been regarded as Australia's best UK Garage producers. Other accolades include releasing an EP on Kevin Saunderson's Legendary KMS Records, Remixing Deekline's "Be Happy" which was picked up by Universal Music Worldwide, an EP on Chicago's "Large Music", worked with Central Station Music Australia on multiple projects plus a bunch of releases on many other labels.

Based in Perth, the most isolated city in the world, the two have been seen bouncing behind the decks entertaining punters with energetic sets in Sydney, Melbourne, Perth and completed a successful tour with UK Garage Royalty The Artful Dodger & DJ Luck & Mc Neat. They have also made their way overseas playing at the Iconic Circus Tokyo multiple times and Barcode Taipei.

In 2019 the duo decided to have a break to focus on their other projects which saw Ross touring around Europe and Lukasz touring around Australia and New Zealend. Due to Covid Ross moved back to Australia mid 2020 and the duo decided it was time to get back to it and revive the project.

2021 was a great year for the Duo remixing Dr Packer's number 1 Hit "Get Some Soul" which peaked at #1 in the Deep House Top 10 on Traxsource and #3 overall and finished the year strong with 1 number #1 and 6 Top 10s landing them #47 Deep House artists for 2021. 

2022 has seen the duo continue on with their love for Deep House by launching their new Label "Sectional Recordings" which has already started to gain some traction. The duo also released an EP on Deepalma records and remixed one of their favourite artists tracks - Saison's - Dilbert's Ditty. 

With a string of exciting releases to come the duo will continue to push the boundaries of electronic music with their feet still firmly planted in the underground.
