If I had to come up with a label / artist dream team, @LocalTalk and @Opolopo would definitely be high up there. Both are renowned for releasing scintillating underground house and disco, music which tugs on the heart strings as much as it moves the dancefloor. Their next release is the Opolopo Tweaks album where Opolopo has reworked some of Local Talk's finest moments alongside a few of the labels deeper gems putting his golden production touch on them.

Our premier today sees Opolopo take on what was undoubtedly one of the finest moments of late 2020 early 2021 in the shape of Soul Renegades stunning 'Speak To Me'. The result is pretty spectacular building on the deep hypnotic groove of the original with all the brilliance of Opolopo's incredible drum programming and extra added keys. It's been a while since we properly caught up with @seanmccabe, based in Bristol, Sean is one of the UK's finest house producers, he is also behind the classy label @goodvibrationsbristol which consistently releases some of the finest Soulful house around.

His latest project is an album with Chicago songwriter and producer Harold Matthews Jr who has worked with the likes of Ron Trent, Terry Hunter, Maurice Joshua and Ron Carroll crafting songs such as “Ritual Of Love” and Barbara Tucker’s “I Get Lifted”. 

We have a full interview with Sean incoming about the project, in the meantime he put together a worship mix for us picking out some of Harold Matthews Jr's finest moments. It's an incredible mix showing the depth and breath of his work.

He was the first to believe in my potential as a producer, guided me through and brought an amazing musical family together. Here is some of the music that we used to play during those late night listening sessions at his workshop on Caerphilly Mountain.

I have many stories to tell. I express most of my sentiment through rhythm and sound. To me there is a refined way to do all things. Though many may not take the route of refinement my connection to Oshun will not allow anything else. For me music is the purest and highest form of communicating love, pain,and progress. I recently went through a painful experience that brought about a new level of power and reason that I put to verse and rhythm. This lamentation will be the first single from my new Album "Romantic Flight". For some reason I just could not finish it before, now I know why.

Sean made his name in House, working with legendary US garage label King Street Sounds and remixing the likes of Dennis Ferrer, Evelyn Champagne King, Carolyn Harding, Blaze, and Roland Clark. Since then, he’s amassed an impressive discography of over 100 releases for labels like Local Talk, Strictly Rhythm, Vega Records, Tribe, and Quantize – plus an original solo album for Z Records. Sean continued his musical journey by launching his ‘Good Vibrations Music’ label.

As a DJ, he forged a reputation at the legendary Southport Weekender, where he performed regularly. Anyone who can impress the notoriously knowledgeable Southport Weekender crowd must be doing something right. Sean has also travelled the world, playing as far afield as Asia and South Africa, as well as regular appearances across Europe and the UK. Refreshingly, he seems to have no particular aspirations to play in gargantuan clubs, and admits to preferring gigs in small, intimate venues, where he can make a connection with the crowd.

Bristol-based producer Sean McCabe released his first tracks in 2003 and has since fine-tuned a trademark sound that is effortlessly soulful.

McCabe made his name in house, developing a long-running relationship with legendary US garage label King Street Sounds and remixing the likes of Dennis Ferrer, Evelyn Champagne King, Carolyn Harding, Blaze, and Roland Clark. Since then he’s amassed an impressive discography, delivering inspired productions for labels like Local Talk, Strictly Rhythm, Vega Records, Tribe, and Quantize – plus an original solo album for Z Records.

A quick listen to any of his productions or one of his superb DJ sets will confirm this attractive, emotion-rich aesthetic. While rooted in house, his sound regularly takes on flavours of disco, boogie, Afro, deeper grooves, proto-house, ‘90s garage-house dubs and much more besides.

As an artist, his 2014 debut album entitled ‘It’s Time’ on Z Records displays his musical range and versatile quality production skills. The album hit Number 1 on Traxsource in its first week and has received support from the likes of Solar Radio, Mi-Soul, Kiss FM, and Jazz FM.

He admits to a love of vintage synthesizers – picked up from listening to classic New York boogie and ‘80s soul. In 2016, Sean continued his musical journey by launching ‘Good Vibrations Music’ record label – a natural evolution of his renowned Good Vibrations events in Bristol.

With a successful album under his belt, his own record label and notable collaborations with the likes of Karizma, Turbojazz, and DJ Spen, his reputation for bringing quality soulful dance music to the masses continues to rise.
