Gobstopper Records continue their strong run of 2014 releases from label boss Mr. Mitch, Strict Face and MattWizard with Dark0's 'Fate EP'. 

Drawing his influences from old and new grime productions, the 'Fate EP' pays homage to Dark0's favourite video game soundtracks with contagious melodies and a low-end driving force sculpted for maximum impact on headphones as well as the dancefloor. 

Dark0 kicks off proceedings with the colorful synth work of 'Amethyst', a track previously teased out on his Soundcloud. The melodic focus continues on the deep tones of 'Gaia', while the low end pulsings of 'Black Rose' and the military 'Mako March' lead the way for the minimal leaning 'Evisu', wrapping up with '2lips' - a tune somewhat reminiscant of 'Sweet Boy Pose', a track that received heaps of attention at the end of last year.

Hailing from North West London, Dark0's self-released 'I Ain't A Sweet Boy EP' and 'Zero' mixtapes earnt him a place in FACT's "2014’s grime producers to watch" list, while his 'Sin EP' for Visionist's Lost Codes label showed a continued progression of his sound ("One to watch" - Thump), with support from many of the scene’s leading figureheads. His music has had radio play on Radio 1 & 1xtra, Rinse FM, NTS, Capital XTRA radio and more.

"Anyone that knows me, knows that my main passion is music. I spend all day listening to music at work and my vinyl collection of 16k pieces greets me when I get home. I knew about Ghostly International before they contacted me in the early 2000’s and we would write off and on. They used to send me big packages of white labeled vinyl, it was decadent.

Late 2007 I got a call from Ghostly asking if I was up for designing a new single for Dabrye. It was a dream come true and I feel like I found a friend who really understood me. I have had the distinct privilege to design over 100 covers for Ghostly, and that is only the half of it.

When they asked me to do a compilation, I was all about it. I wanted to do three or more compilations because I wanted to segment it up into different sections (Ghostly, SMM and Spectral). It is impossible to reduce the entire label to 15 tracks. Ghostly is dynamic, they don’t fit one sound, genre or idea.

So I approached it as a mixtape of sorts. I tried to find a common thread that spoke to me and create a mood around that idea. Some of my favorite tracks are not on here. JDSY 'Horizon Line' makes my head spin. Choir of Young Believers 'Paralyse' takes me to another place. There are so many more.

What you are hearing some songs that have spoken to me over the years in a distinct way. I don’t feel like they are obvious choices but they all are nothing short of amazing. I hope this compilation helps you see a different side of one of the best labels to ever do it." - Michael Cina

A collection of deeply atmospheric ambience, cosmic, and chillout techno, it was the opening salvo in a much longer-term effort by NYC-based THRONE OF BLOOD RECORDINGS to establish a platform for a diverse collection of friends and musical fellow travellers to explore composing music for folding time and exploring innerspace. Now, just months after Vol. 1 hit shelves, MOON ROCK VOLUME 2 is upon us…

An evolutionary step further into the ether, Vol. 2 evokes a familiarly offkilter and contemplative vibe. But it is also more sonically diverse than Vol. 1, presenting a more expansive view of chakra-stimulating spacemusic straddling techno, strange acoustic instrumentation, and Balearic flavors.

In addition to artists that have released on Throne of Blood before, like Bunker New York’s Ulysses, Tel Aviv’s Red Axes, producer/visual artist Pixelife, studio maestro AKA JK, and the inimitable Pittsburgh Track Authority, Moon Rock Vol. 2 features contributions from Tempelhof & Gigi Masin, Jonah Sharp (Reagenz) and DJ Spun (Rong Music) in their Loose Control Band guise, Balearic Gabba Soundsystem feat. peeDoo, Toronto’s Arthur Oskan, Margot (Les Disques de la Mort), Ima Cliché boss Cosmo Vitelli (Bo’tox), and two contributions from Cologne Tape’s Jens-Uwe Beyer/Popnoname.
