“I just thought this song had a really odd, strangely beautiful quality to it, which is why I used it to open the record. I like the idea of starting absurdly small and then getting quite big and epic about two-thirds of the way through. Hopefully, people won’t turn up their stereos really loud at the beginning to compensate, because it does get quite loud at the end; but when it begins, it’s just so thin and strange. When you first listen to it, there’s a chance you’ll wonder what’s wrong with your stereo! 

It’s hard to talk about instrumentals because… they’re instrumentals: It’s difficult to say, “The song is about this,” because technically it isn’t about anything. And I never know what to name them, either, so I figure, why not pay homage to my favorite writers and borrow their titles? I’ve named a few of my songs after Southern Gothic stories, and this one comes from “Everything That Rises Must Converge,” which is a Flannery O’Connor story.”

A few years ago, Moby (born Richard Melville Hall) decided that it was time for a change so he packed up and moved from his beloved New York to sunny LA. This fresh, new outlook permeates his 11th studio album, Innocents. One day, as the story goes, he was riding around town listening to “Morning Becomes Eclectic” on local radio station KCRW, and he heard a Damien Jurado song come on the air — and the rest is history.

“Originally, ‘Almost Home’ was a fully finished song,” recalls Moby. “But I love Damien’s approach to melody and lyrics so I gave it to him as an instrumental. What he did was much better than anything I’d come up with.”

Scottish trio The Twilight Sad are reissuing their exhilarating debut album Fourteen Autumns & Fifteen Winters for Record Store Day on Saturday 19 April 2014 through FatCat Records.

To celebrate, the band are giving away a free download of their recent Paisley Abbey show with the Royal Scottish National Orchestra. You can access the download here: http://www.fat-cat.co.uk/thetwilightsad/

The special intimate performance was part of The Spree Festival in Paisley, Scotland. Legendary conductor with the RSNO John Logan arranged the orchestration alongside classic The Twilight Sad tracks 'The Wrong Car', 'Sick', 'The Room' and 'Cold Days From The Birdhouse'. 

The 500 capacity venue sold out in less than an hour, with the band playing as a three-piece to give the orchestra as much space as possible.

The Twilight Sad will be performing Fourteen Autumns & Fifteen Winters in full at the following towns:

Originally released in 2003 in Europe, Mute released the album in 2004 in North America to critical acclaim. Included in https://soundcloud.com/pitchfork's Top 200 Albums of the 2000s, Dead Seas was noted for what https://soundcloud.com/filter-magazine called an “organic component that coexists along with the machines, giving them a warmth few acts have been able to unearth.” This was the last album featuring Nicolas Fromageau as a member of M83 alongside Anthony Gonzalez.

Fascinating news! <a href="http://esbenandthewitch.co.uk">Esben & the Witch</a> will return with their new album Wash the Sins Not Only the Face, on 01.21.13 via Matador. The Brighton (UK) trio follow up their acclaimed 2011 debut album Violet Cries by transcending ‘second album’ preconceptions, crafting a record that’s bold, confident, expansive & not ‘difficult’ in the slightest. Daniel Copeman of the band says: “We had a clearer idea of what we wanted to achieve on this album, and how we could achieve it. We’re more focused, more confident.”

Premiering the 1st track taken from the album today, "Deathwaltz" shows a band that have come of age & that new found confidence certainly shines through.
