Serge Proshe is a DJ with more the 10 years experience.He is owner of the Mantra club in Kiev and this represents his debut release on Go Deeva Records. Zhanna, meanwhile, is a songwriter & vocalist from Barcelona who worked with Felix Da Housecat on the album ‘Virgo, Blaktro & The Movie Disco’. Zhanna and Serge have known each other for a long time and come together in some style here. The main theme song was recorded in Barcelona and finally finished in the studio in Kiev.

The album is an introspective, thoughtful and predominantly heartfelt collection of hand-picked cuts.

The music on This Is Retro has been compiled with dedication and genuine consideration. It has an unquestionably retrospective sounding streak running through the selection, but also a fresh approach to today’s music – it’s retro, but it’s firmly relevant in today’s market. 
Tracks feature from the likes of THIS IS label owner Sander Kleinenberg and many others. Sander contributes to the album with tracks such as Chemically, Remember When, Follow Me and The Healer.  
Quality contributions have been hand-picked by the label, artists such as Kraak & Smaak, diskJokke, Djuma Soundsystem,NSFW, Ante Perry, Kolombo and Downtown Party Network. This really is a retrospective voyage into the old to come up with something new, combining some tracks incorporating that 'classic sounding' vibe with a fresh 2012 flavour. 
The LP is truly essential listening, compiled with love and care by Sander as we approach summer 2012.

THE ALBUM: 

This Is Retro comes to us as a strong package of dancefloor as well as easy listening gems. This Is Retro genuinely covers the whole spectrum. 
The album kicks off with Sander Kleinenberg vs Kraak & Smaak´s 'The Journey' feat Ursula Rucker. This version is the Kolombo remix, dropping the BPMs and taking us back to the 80s with a series of stabbed synth sounds and probably the funkiest bassline this side of James Brown. Young and upcoming Dutch talent NSFW furthers his growing reputation with a track entitled 'Coconut’. Unbelievably simple, but impressingly infectious, this is a track which is full, round, warm and uplifting. When the female vocal slides in, as well as the piano line, you know this track is where it’s at. Kolombo offer their second offering on the track with 'Passin’ Me By'. The track also makes use of subtle vocal snippets, up and down key changes, complemented with those crisp 80s drum pads. 
Sander takes up the reigns with the impressive The Healer track, offering a more mellow, dreamy experience, with NSFW storming back with his remix of Kolombo & Oliver Klein’s 'Espionnage'. 
Djuma Soundsystem & diskJokke’s 'Maneter' slows the BPMs even more before Ante Perry & Kolombo’s 'Completely Positive' also does the business in a laid-back vibe. 
Main man Sander rounds off the album with his sublime vocal workout with UK singer/songwriter Jamie Cullum. The track is the seminal 'Remember When', featuring Jamie’s heartfelt vocals, with Downtown Party Network on the remix.

In what is increasingly looking a biennial tradition London producers Horixon (Monarchy’s Andrew Armstrong and Joseph Ashworth) and Norwegian singer Else Born (aka Philco Fiction’s Turid Alida Solberg) have teamed up on new single 'Every Turn', delivering another leftfield pop classic.

It's fair to say that both acts have found their perfect partners here, Horixon's clean, unfussy yet emotionally resonant production providing the perfect accompaniment to Turid's heartfelt vocals. Giving the song's lyrics room to breathe the track revolves around a radiant looping organ driving what Turid describes as "a post-relationship chant. A repetitive tune dealing with deep regrets about love."

Accompanying the original version is a stunning rework from London based producer Martin Dubka. Re-pitching the vocals, Dubka flips the script on the track transforming Turid's striking Scandinavian vocals into something close to a male voice on a classic 90s NY house track whilst the music itself sounds like the kind of undiscovered John 'Jellybean' Benitez mix record diggers spend their lives hoping to find.

Mike D’ Jais has already delivered a couple of summary productions for Déepalma’s main imprint in the past two years, so his return doesn’t come unexpected. His sound is always deep, warm and chilled, that’s why his new EP serves perfectly as the kick-off release for the new sub label which is dedicated to exactly these styles. Both songs, ‘Wonderful Soul’ and ‘Feeling You’, beam with pure positivity throughout as modest percussion elements marry with heady basslines, dancing around dreamy synth pads, resulting in two wonderful pieces of music full of gentle balearic soul.

Monitor 66's arrival onto the scene with last summers 'Triscuits' saw them pop up on a lot of top dj's radar’s, such as The Magician who opened his Magic Tape 22 mix with it. It also saw their first release on House of Disco, their adopted home. Since then the two boys from Sweden have been honing their sound through a series of lauded remixes for Tempogeist, Kolombo & Rythm Operator. Now after some painstaking studio time they are ready to release their next original work, their first solo EP, Vitae on House of Disco Records.

'Vitae' starts with the title track, which firmly re-enforces their manifesto of making music for sunsets. Bit's haunting vocals are given a different context with some invigorating melodies and bright positive basslines.

Next up is 'Virago', a slightly more sultry affair featuring some rebuilt but familiar vocals that progressively open up as if bearing their soul and plenty of shifts and depth to keep sneakers on the dancefloor.

Third on the EP is their most house orientated track to date. Hi hats keep the tempo as this one gets a little deeper, again their vocal treatments are a signature of their sound but this time with a more 90's feel.

Finally we have 'Cur' featuring Oh Deer. A truely unique end to the EP this track plays out like a love story, a fitting sunset to an accomplished and long awaited solo EP from the two young swedes. The first of many by the sounds of it
