Group Therapy 114 with Above & Beyond - We Are All We Need Album Special

We remember the day our manager came into our studio aka drew's living room apartment to show us this new band he was going to sign to Disruptor Records. The first record he played us was this tune Overload and we were hooked! We had never heard of them before but we proceeded to listen to 10 more songs of theirs and we were blown away. Their sound was so refreshing from the instruments to their vocals. There was a summertime quality to all their music that couldn't be denied. Flash forward a couple months and we had the chance to meet them in LA. We proceeded to do what any dudes meeting for the first time would do, we through a mansion party at a buddies got totally blackout and missed the call time for what was our Let You Go music video. Flash even more forward and Overload is taking over top40 and they are about to drop their next single Dreams! The boys were cool enough to let us take a shot a remixing overload and putting our touch on it. The song itself is already just so amazing and vibey... its like drinking coconut water on a beach while getting a foot rub and someone somewhere else transferring large sums of money into your bank acct. SO we figured why change that and just change the foot rub to a back massage and money to a kiss from a chick you really are into but didn't know she was also into you.... So without further adieu... our remix of Overload!

The first one “Faith“, added by some ethnic vocals coming from Rey Lenon, is slipping between dark rhythms and a sunrising moods. “Modern Witches“ comes straight and with a future electronic touch. A little bit of dystopian vibes resonate in that one. Ambiguous is also the sound of “Emerize“, with it’s restless throbbing sound it’s creating some pictures of dark and small streets in your mind, which will lead ya to a dark club without any visible doors or lights. Lets great straight to the music without further adieu. 'The title track 'Pure' is a melodic and hypnotic masterpiece, with its subtleties creating a sophisticated warm workout to slay a dance floor. The infectious arpeggiator is the main stay here, underpinning the track, before a beautiful top line adds warmth and a beautiful sunshine feeling. The breakdown lulls you into thinking that this is a restrained affair, before we kick back in to action with a gnarly bass line that will send the crowd wild. A track that smells of a hit!

Picking up the pace here, the energetic 'Infinite' is a wondrous peak time slammer, shrouded in depth, yet with plenty of  brightness, as the warm pads glisten through, like rays of light shining through a gap in the curtains, warming the soundscape. Big bass again provides the punch, while melodies send you dreaming off away, with a hazy glow. Big and bold, and thats why we love it.

Since launching in early 2016, the Explorations series returns for its fourth outing. Having previously welcomed artists such as Theo Kottis, Tontario, Modd and Luttrell to the label, ‘Anjunadeep Explorations 04’ introduces more new faces to the family.

Previously one-half of production duo Journeyman, Dom Furlonge makes his debut outing under his new Antic alias with EP opener ‘And I Pray’. Dom showcases his own vocals and distinctive production flair on this quirky club cut.

Our second track brings together the Bath-based duo Kotu and Munich’s Sam Goku on ‘Ascension’, blending a subtle rolling bassline with soaring strings and sparse piano to wonderful effect. A much sought after ID from recent Anjunadeep Editions from James Grant and Dom Donnelly.

Next up is emerging German talent Ben Böhmer with ‘Flug & Fall’. Ben fuses organic elements, vocal chanting and warm melodic grooves in this uplifting number.

Since his first release on the label in 2013, Matt Fax has seen immense growth as a producer through releasing impressive, genre-expanding singles and his debut artist album Contrast in 2017, and as a DJ having played a run of shows from Europe to Asia in 2019 as well as the Progressive Stage at Electronic Family in the Netherlands. Since infiltrating and exciting the electronic scene in The Netherlands post-debut album release,’Herzensangelegenheit in 2011, Schories — a now celebrated German born-and-bred DJ and producer has been busy, focused, and consistently committed to releasing coherent, quality work spanning seemingly uncorrelated genres and decades and playing the worldwide stage from festivals to underground clubs. His most recent EP is the impressive, fifth studio-album release ‘Blitzbahn,' dropped in March 2018.

Oliver's formative adolescent years were spent listening to rock legends like the Credence Clearwater Revival and The Beatles. He attended his first electronic music nightclub when he was 15 years old, fell in love with the record ‘Experience’ by The Prodigy and still sites his early introduction to fellow hometown hero, Stephan Bodzin as being the pivotal moments that cemented his love for the genre he’s heavily influencing today.

In this mix, you can hear the appreciation for the popular whining harmonies of guitar strings and vocal samples creating a lyrical rhythm beneath a sometimes haunting and sometimes hopeful sustaining house beat.
