In January 2021, the label launched Anjunabeats Rising: a new EP series highlighting the next generation of producers and championing emerging artists from around the world.

Oësha & Almero, Dokho and Paul Arcane feature on the latest edition in the series, Anjunabeats Rising Volume 7.

‘Desire’ is the debut release from Oësha, aka Maurice van der Molen. As one half of Magnificence, he’s been supported by Swedish House Mafia, Tiësto, Alesso, and many more. The Oësha project sees van der Molen step out on an exciting new stage of his career. ‘Desire’ sees Oësha join forces with French producer Almero, who has landed previous releases on Revealed Recordings, Label X and Arise Records. 

Dokho is the new melodic house alias from Belgian producer Fast Distance. Under his original moniker, Fast Distance has received support from Armin van Buuren, Tiësto and Above & Beyond, who have featured his releases on Group Therapy Radio. He makes his Anjunabeats debut with ‘Journey’, following an EP on Colorize earlier in 2021.

Rounding the latest Anjunabeats Rising EP is Paul Arcane. Paul is a producer who has been in our orbit for several years - he provided a Guest Mix for Above & Beyond’s Group Therapy Radio in 2018. It’s a pleasure to welcome him onto the label with ‘Sisu’.

Euphoric Nation, Michael Fearon & Lya Adams, Apollo Nash and Chris Schambacher all feature on the latest edition in the series, Anjunabeats Rising Volume 10. 

Originally the solo project of trance DJ Don Ortega, Euphoric Nation became a duo earlier in 2021 with the addition of Justin Zanish. Michael Fearon is an established name in Northern Ireland’s dance music scene, and his productions have heavily featured on Above & Beyond’s Group Therapy Radio. They’ve recruited Swedish singer-songwriter Lya Adams for their collaboration ‘Stranger’.

Hailing from New Jersey, Apollo Nash cut his teeth releasing on Elliptical Sun Recordings. Elements of trance, progressive and breakbeat all collide on ‘Need You’. He describes the track “as an embodiment of all the sounds and styles that have inspired me from both within and outside of dance music throughout the years”.

Rounding off the EP is progressive house DJ/producer Chris Schambacher with ‘For Your Love’. Chris has recently supported Tiestö on tour, and has garnered recognition with his remix of Cash Cash’s ‘All My Love’ on Atlantic Records.

Luccio is the man behind Florida's top venue TreeHouse Miami, and he shows his depth of knowledge for the deeper sounds in our latest release.

"Peace in Qroo" pairs dubbed out vocal phrases & a larger-than-life sense of space with arpeggiated flair in the synth work. DS019 includes a full vocal mix and a more stripped-back instrumental, which keeps itself more grounded in the 4x4 beat.

One of the UK’s biggest breakout dance acts of the past few years, Franky Wah made his Anjunadeep debut earlier this year with ‘Should Have Seen It Coming’, feat. AETHO. The Yorkshireman’s label debut racked up over 30 BBC Radio 1 plays, including a Hottest record accolade from Annie Mac, SiriusXM playlist support, and over 4 million streams in the past 8 months. In 2021 alone, he’s released a string of chart-topping originals, collaborating with some of the biggest names in dance music including Carl Cox, Lee Foss, Cristoph, and Sasha.

Franky Wah now returns, sharing the lead single and title track from his second Anjunadeep EP ‘Bring Me Back To You’, featuring English singer-songwriter iiola. Supported by BBC Introducing and Complex for her solo material, iiola has made a name for herself in recent years, collaborating with Sub Focus and Wilkinson on their UK Dance #1 album ‘Portals’ and supporting acts such as Nina Nesbitt and Saint Raymond.

“‘Bring Me Back To You’ really felt like the perfect follow up to ‘Should Have Seen It Coming’, lyrically, sentimentally, and also because of the message it stands for. iiola and I had been working on a few different records together but she felt like the perfect addition to this track and Anjuna also stood out as the perfect home. I know iiola actually pulled her car over to Shazam ‘Should Have Seen It Coming’ when she first heard it on BBC Radio 1 so it really feels like it’s all come full circle for the both of us,” Franky says.

Fresh off the back of his debut UK headline tour, Franky Wah is set to embark on his first US headline run this November.

We live at a time when distractions from reality are never further away than our fingertips. Our phones offer us unlimited stimulation and temporary comfort. The possibilities of technology are endless, but they also limit the possibility…the possibility to truly experience and submit to the moment.

For me, going to a club has always been about letting go of the world around me, like a vacation from the nagging realities of everyday life. In the best clubs I have been to, the people were united by a desire to experience electronic music in the purest sense; to get lost in its tension and release. No matter what was going on in their lives, it was a place where, for at least a few hours, nothing else mattered but the sheer power music had to bring people joy. And those experiences - held only by those in that room, at that moment - were almost like the reward to submitting to a secret society. At the end of the night, I could look at my friends, old and new, and without saying a single word, we'd know that what we experienced together was something special, something that would never quite be repeated again.

Some of my early clubbing experiences have stayed with me for my entire life. They are why I'm doing what I'm doing today. There is not a photo, forum thread or social media post in existence to mark their happening, but the memories, the emotions I felt, the way those nights changed my life - those things stay with me to this day.

Somewhere along the way, we as a society have lost the ability to experience those special moments. On the rare occasion that they do happen, we scramble to grab our phones in time to capture them - but those moments cannot be truly captured - and they don’t need to be broadcasted or recorded. Sometimes, the best thing we can do is fully appreciate what is happening in that room, at that moment, with those people around us. 

I think our society needs clubbing experiences where they go home with more than just a picture to post on instagram. That's why I'm starting This Never Happened - I want to create that experience for people.

At This Never Happened, we invite you into a space where the only thing that matters are the people in that room, the music and the magic that happens when those things interact. An event where the dancefloor will be a phone and photo-free space.

This experience we share together may, by 2016 standards, have never happened. But those who dare will always know - something special did happen here. 

The first show will be a return to my hometown of San Francisco on 3 June at Mezzanine. It's a venue I've dreamed of headlining for many years and the perfect place to start this new chapter. If we can make this happen - and work - together, there will be many, many more. 

This Never Happened will not just be the name of these events, but also the name of a new record label. This label will be the outlet for music, by me, that is inspired by and made for this experience. The first song I'm releasing is called "Fingerprint" and you can listen to it below.

Putting this project together with my team over the last 6 months triggered a creative spark in me unlike anything I've ever felt before, and I'm so excited for you guys to hear the music I've come up with during that time.

I look forward to building this concept with you :)
