That was a short clip from May I Take Your Arm?  which follows blind theatre artist Alex Bulmer as she is introduced to eight neighbourhood storytellers in St Jamestown/Cabbagetown. This show grew out of a seed of curiosity and need when Bulmer had moved to a new apartment in the neighbourhood. 
May I Take Your Arm? Is a Theatre Passe Muraille and Red Dress Productions Co-Production In Association with Common Boots Theatre.
A 7-part multidisciplinary experience is available for FREE on a website that will act as a navigation map for audiences to experience in their own homes, from June 14th-26th. The piece will be presented with captioning, text transcripts, audio recordings, and a Visual Story to guide you through the experience.  

Audiences can purchase accordion books, created using stitch work, paper weaving, cutting, and wild crafted botanical dyes. These limited-edition handmade books, which will be mailed, are a tactile accompaniment to experience the show. 50 will be reserved to prioritize access for low-vision and blind community members. 

Books will be Pay-What-You-Can-Afford and offered at $5.00, $25.00 and $50.00.  If cost  is a barrier, please contact the Community Engagement Coordinator, Angela Sun, at angelas@passemuraille.on.ca and we will cover the cost free-of-charge (while supplies last).

Meeting Dawa for the first time and actually having her sit with us was inspiring, especially knowing a bit about her struggle to have the restaurant the way she wanted - resisting with respect to her families wanting to open a typical Tibetan spot.  While listening to her personal story of becoming the person she is today with the immense experience of life to achieve her personal goal and growth as the chef she is today. I’m glad we took this opportunity to meet/sit with her and get all these details about her wandering out in the world before she opened her restaurant.  She had ventured out in the world to search for the food she is preparing for her customers today by acquiring all the skills from traveling around the world working for various restaurants giving them her time and hard-work. This is passion and dedication that our listeners will enjoy for sure.

This Tibetan Life is on a spin off of This American Life, a podcast featuring Ira Glass that broadcast various stories from ordinary American people. As Tibetan Americans, we feel the need to connect with our generation of youngsters who are living in various cities and towns across America. We hope to bring lighthearted stories, poetry, songs, and other forms of expression. As Tibetan Americans, we believe our collective experience ought to be reminisced, shared and explored.
