This song is totally original, as are all of my songs. I never use loops, so what you're hearing is me playing every note on every instrument. I use GarageBand and my MacBook Pro to create this music - nothing more. This song in particular is one of my newest. Tell me what you think. 

A House Divided

This is one of the first songs I wrote on GarageBand. Like the others, this one is totally original and uses no loops. Oddly enough, this song began with the 3/2 son clave rhythm beginning twenty-one seconds into the song. As a percussionist, I almost never begin the songwriting process with drums, but in this case it worked out.    

No Reservations

As is the case in all of my music, this song is totally original and uses no loops. It was created using GarageBand. The song is actually a combination of two separate songs I wrote. You can probably pick out the transition, which occurs at one minute and twenty-six seconds. It took some work to join the two in a coherent way, but I think it works.  

A Natural Progression

This song is totally original. It was made with GarageBand, without the use of any loops. I especially like the hip-hop aspect of this song, which is a bit of a departure for me. Perhaps more than any other song I've written thus far, this song takes me on a musical journey. Try closing your eyes when you listen to it. Tell me what you think. 

My Beginning: Your End

This song, like the others, is completely original. No loops were used. What you're hearing is me playing every note on every instrument (using GarageBand software). What makes this song unique is the fact that it's in 7/8. I also superimposed a 4/4 rhythm over the pre-established 7/8 feel, beginning fifty-six seconds into the song (hence the name). This creates a simple, yet effective, "over the bar" polyrhythm.  

Seven and Four

This song is completely original, using no loops or pre-written music of any kind. I wrote it using GarageBand. This song is a far cry from the music I generally write, but sometimes it's necessary to get out of our comfort zones in order to grow. To me, this song sounds like something Randy Newman would write, or maybe a lost track off the Toy Story soundtrack. I was feeling abnormally happy when I wrote it and I think it shows.   

Andy's Room

Hey, my name is Wes Mitchell. I write electronic/computer music using the GarageBand program on my MacBook Pro. My songs are all original. I use no loops. What you hear is me programming and/or playing every note on every instrument...which can be time-consuming. Generally, a song takes between 8 and 12 hours to complete, but that can vary. My musical background is as follows: I've been playing the drums for more than 8 years. I was inititally self-taught, joining the band program in high school. I have experience on the drumset, concert snare, marching snare, marimba, and the piano in varying degrees. I've also studied music theory and can read sheet music (though my sight-reading skills leave something to be desired). Listen to my music and tell me what you think!
