This week's mix is sooo good and perfect for the lovely spring weather we're currently enjoying here in London. It comes from Cameo Culture, who we first became aware of back when he released a lush track called 'Night Swimming' via No.19 Music. Since then he's been working behind-the-scenes with Wolf + Lamb, putting his engineering skills to great use for the excellent label. He's also been hard at work on his own album project, Burning Bright, which is out now... in light of that, we thought we should have a chat with him about the LP as well as giving our Deep House London followers a great mix to listen to! Making your mind free, as we drift with the sounds of technology... Another exceptional set from the GL krew, classic deep space, soulful n jazzy dnb soundz from Blame in that Goodlooking style, alongside Conrad & DRS. Released April 1997, you can still buy this online - if you like it, support the artists and go buy a copy. Find more sets like this in my 'LTJ Bukem...' playlist. 

The first 60m is Blame's set (it's a 60m CD), I copied this to cassette (90m) years ago, then I added another couple of tracks on the end - so the last 43m of the set is my mixing (hence no MC's) - I no longer have the CD so had to copy from tape and thought I may as well leave my bit on the end.

‘Glutes’ is peak-time material without being overly fast or chaotic, the energy instead coming from the transportive arrangement and emotive melodic content. The same can be said for Bäumel’s ‘Surge’ on Kompakt, an anthem in the sets of Tale Of Us last year which led to this release.

The title track rises and falls, surging with wide-sweeping synth notes and a steady rhythm to anchor the waves. An infectious refrain pulls you further in and, right on cue, the kick drum continues to beat the sweet spot. ‘Engage’ is filled with similarly subtle details, uplifting arpeggios and atmospheric reverb. Half-way through the melody bursts into life, shining brightly through the haze and creating one of those moments of release that make the Afterlife sound work so well on a dancefloor.

Am vergangenen Sonntag waren die Station Endlos Residents um Casimir von Oettingen, Electronic Elephant und Sonnensysteme am heiligen Strand des Sisyphos zu Gast. Was die Jungs dann dort abgefeuert haben, das lässt sich nur sehr schwer in Worte fassen. In jedem Falle ging ein unglaublicher Spirit durch die feiernde Meute, das war absolut elektrisierend und berauschend zugleich! Ganz großer Sport - Chapeau! Keine Frage also...dieses grandiose Meisterwerk garantiert uns maximalste Unterhaltung und das sicher mehr als nur einmal.
