Techno Traffic 10

This track is the first piece I created after completing my study of Beethoven's Eroica Sketches (his third symphony) to complete my Ph.D. in music theory. 

For this piece, I sought to create a cinematic, electronic journey. I draw on the progressive house genre, but also pull ideas from classical music, which I’ve learned from studying Beethoven’s works.

Op. 2 No. 1  "Octane" (Original)

Day 2! A trap inspired beat with a thick baseline.

The rules for this project are simple: I make one beat per day (during the work week, i.e., Mon–Fri). The beat has to be completed in one day and released, whether or not it is good.  

My primary aim with this project is to experiment with a variety of genres. I aim to I’m improve my sense of rhythm and groove by playing in all the drum parts (by finger drumming on an Ableton Push 2 controller). I am also playing in the synth lines with a MIDI keyboard. Finally, I am trying to improve my ability to mix and master more rapidly in a variety of styles.

I am a music theorist, pianist, and composer-producer living in Boise, Idaho. I research compositional processes and the history of music theory.
