Tune Of The Week: July 10
 
David von Mering and Carter Schultz formed Aer in Wayland, MA and have held our attention since their 2012 debut The Bright Side. Combining rap, reggae, and pop music, I am excited about how Aer will effect the modern reggae scene, especially with their crossover mainstream appeal. With appearances at California Roots Festival, a recent support tour with SOJA, and a summer of headlining clubs in Europe, there is no doubt Mering and Schultz will be big players for years to come. 
 
Aer’s song Above The Floor is a play-by-play of the decisions we make and the stories we create as we become our own selves. A drifting bass line floats the track, while the lyrics beg us to challenge the decisions we make everyday. Whether that is on a college campus or at home with our families, these two early 20 year olds push us to be aware of who we are and who we hope to become.

Birocratic x Flamingosis - Passing By

The third installment in my 'Tequila Trilogy' which began with 'Tequila Day Dreams' (20 Something, 2012) and the sequel 'Tequila Sunset' (Ways To Go, 2013).

The song is a meditation on life, love and relationships in the online dating age with a very specific locale of Venice Beach, California as the backdrop 

The idea of the song actually came together on a walk down Venice Beach with my girlfriend in of February 2016. I wrote the hook in my head as we walked around hand in hand.

The song examines love and the ever changing dynamics of relationships in Los Angeles while also taking time to ponder the future after finally finding happiness and peace.
