Some time ago I asked Donato to compile the “Rome” edition of the 200th podcast for electronique.it.

His response to this challenge is a techno mix that I can best describe as an intense, intimate and evocative portrait of the reality that is Rome. While drawing on a wide range of source material and inspiration from the past, he constructs a deeply personal mix that is directed towards the future. It is, in a word, epic!

The second release on UK producer Melé's Quadrants label is a dense, four-track tech EP from Callahan titled Fallacy. It maintains techno atmospherics, but houses a warped bassline and hi-hats on the ups that render it some genre-less clusterfuck of dance-able, dystopian aesthetics.

This months guest is the Berlin-based Techno producer, Live Act and DJ Ray Kajioka.
Ray is best known for his output on Kanzleramt Music. But also for his on Cocoon released EP "Never Ending" and remixes for artists like Joel Mull, Dave Clarke, Alexander Kowalski and many more. 

A striking aspect of his music is certainly the warm spheric and impulsive sound, which is constantly present in all his productions.
“The typical Ray-sound!”, as some call it simply, is appreciated all around the globe and had taken him to events international-wide.

His debut album "En Route" can be expected in March on Heiko Laux' Kanzleramt Music.
Besides that there will be also a remix for Nicholas Bacher, coming one month later in April, on Yan Stricker's !!Organism imprint.

Solid Stone’s Phenomena imprint welcomes THNK to the label for his debut EP entitled ‘Control The Night’. Much loved for his cross pollinated sound, the Dutch artist effortlessly melds progressive house and techno into his creations. It’s this unique blend, coupled with astute musicality that has made THNK a favourite amongst top tier DJs around the world. Now presenting his first original project of the year, THNK debuts on Phenomena with a hugely anticipated two track EP. 

In the midst of what has been a relatively quiet year the demand for new music from the Dutch artist is at an all time high. The title and showcase piece arrives at precisely the right moment and may be one of THNK’s finest creations to date. Electric in nature, it’s esoteric blend of tight beats, rugged design and uplifting melodic minimalism is both imaginative and poignant. It moves through acidic rhythms and a storyboard of cosmic effects, ultimately leading to a timeless musical theme, elevating the mood before getting washed away in favour of a stripped back re-entry.  

Equally stunning is the companion piece 'Mind Flayer'. Opening up with a punchy energetic groove, THNK’s finest production hallmarks are on top form here. Undeniably dramatic, it’s tonal tension is offset with meditative arps and emotive chord changes, while a vocal stab pierces the air at timely moments. The break represents the emotional core of the track, building in grandiose fashion as melodies open up, taking you on a wonderful ride before a wall of noise sparks a classy drop, maintaining the subtle brilliance of the piece. It's an exhilarating ride and a fitting end to a fabulous Phenomena debut for the Dutch artist.
