I'm Marlena! From Duluth MN, USA. I play horns. Mostly soprano and tenor sax. Alice Coltrane changed my life. Everything I do is modal if I can help it. I love a dilla groove and some sus chords. I'm chasing a unique sound with lots of character, and a way to make few chords sound like many. Main influences are Nubya Garcia, Alice Coltrane, Albert Ayler, Yusef Lateef, Wayne Shorter, Joe Henderson, and Pharoah Sanders. The list goes on, but you get the idea!

Terrestrial Lifeforms came together as a collective formed by Cody Thoreson in 2019 but quickly solidified its roster as a sextet of extremely hard-working musicians. The group draws influences from a wide variety of genres and every member of the band is a student of music in some capacity.

Based out of Duluth, Minnesota, their music is a combination of jazz, hip hop, and rnb, with hints of classical harmony and even the occasional metal breakdown. All of this is set against a backdrop of modern neo-soul and world music rhythms. The group is made up of  tenor saxophonist Marlena Boedigheimer, brass player Will Collins, guitarist Adam Johnson, bassist Calvin Caron, drummer Ian Hopp, and ​percussionist/keyboardist/vocalist Cody Thoreson.
