Hope I (Interlude)

CHAPTER ONE 

Once, in a forgotten time, a soul wandered through the ethereal mists of a disjointed forest and found herself thrust into the heart of a mysterious world. Lost and disoriented, she sought shelter from a rain of glass. On the edge of this new world, she found a cavern filled with scintillating crystals, their magical glow an invitation to marvel. 
In this sanctuary of beauty, she caught sight of an undine, a creature of bewitching grace. She was bathing in her own tears of darkness. Deeply moved by the sadness of the undine, the soul approached and spoke with her. She learned that her tears, both powerful and melancholic, reflected the eternal nostalgia of her lost kingdom. 
Astonished by the soul&amp#39;s presence, calming and peaceful, the undine released one last painful tear before freeing herself. She transformed into a celestial statue of quartz, turning the water of tears into eternal ice from the heavens. In gratitude for her deliverance, the soul obtained the final crystal drop of the magical tears in the palm of her hand.

In this episode, founding residents Meaney and Artro takeover - playing some deep, dubby minimal. The set is characterised by its use of dub-driven bass parts, sibilant hi-hats, and mesmerising vocal loops. We chose to play at a slower tempo, as it allows greater experimentation with aural textures, mood, and percussive elements.

The microminimal takeover (Episode 2) w/ Meaney & Artro (Threads*RONCESVALLES) - 13-Aug-19

Today’s episode introduces microminimal’s Bucharest-based resident Dexu’. To celebrate his roots, both mixes feature Romanian artists or labels. This mix is a particularly special one to me, put together during a significant part of my life, having combined a large span of the more deep, poignant and powerful tracks that I’ve been inspired by lately. The past years of my development as a selector have involved me truly finding a voice, taking inspiration from others who have defined what it really means to be unique in their sound and artistic intentions. Within the spirit of this two hour mix is a healthy mix of deep house, techno and ambient; a dedication to the many eye-opening and exhilarating moments I’m grateful to have found myself within on the dance-floor.

The microminimal takeover (Episode 5) w/ parting(Threads*RONCESVALLES)

This week’s episode features Boston based Bruno Limma by way of Araranguá, Brazil, with releases on Mentha Records, Little Helpers, Mind&Vision, and Sudd Records. Bruno Limma is a dear friend of mine whom I met when I was living and coming up in the Boston electronic scene. A longtime veteran of both rocking the DJ booth and working minimal tracks in the studio, I’ve learned a ton and have been inspired by him and his sound, faith and work ethic. It’s a great pleasure to have him as a guest on the first hour out of this week’s microminimal episode. This week he digs nice and deep into his crates to bring us a slappin’ vinyl only set. By fate, he also closes his set off with a song off the legendary Perlon label, coincidentally the same one I play first in my hour. Episode 7 airs October 22, which falls on Bruno’s birthday. To this, we at microminimal wish him all the best and continued success!

The microminimal takeover (Episode 7) w/ parting & Bruno Limma (Threads*NORTH YORK)

After been jamming and recording with hardware at the studio, I got a chance to explore different currents of sound with a more esoterical feeling. Meaningful messages as a rite on the vocals while starting the first hour with some broken grooves and overdubbed soundscapes. The second hour explores space, tempo and time with some unusual structures and rhythms around acid, minimal and breaking with electro.

In this episode of The microminimal takeover - @microminimalrecords resident @andycue takes over for a two-hour journey of deep grooves, infused with a stylistic homage to his North American roots. 

Andy is on the management team at microminimal, and is the head-honcho of @intakemusicto - a Toronto-based record label, event company, and artistic innovation platform. Since their founding in January 2018 - they have pursued a shared vision of creating a lasting impact on the global dance-music community.
Andy adopts a methodical and calculated approach to curating parties, music releases, and DJ performances. His efforts as an individual artist and on behalf of Intake Music have engaged audiences both in his native Canada and abroad. 
As a label manager, producer and DJ - Andy has galvanised collaboration with Canadian platforms such as Electric Island, CODA and Vertigo Toronto and abroad with Drei’s After-Hours (USA), and Vujaday Music Festival (Barbados).
