1 Before the heav'ns and earth were framed, G D Em-D
In His Triune convocation, G Bm D
The will of God yet unproclaimed G D Em-D
In the dawn before creation, G Bm D
The hidden heart of God would whisper yet no answer! Em G A D
Within His heart, the words He might have said: C A D
"It is not good for Me to be alone; C G Am-D-G
I will make Myself a counterpart!" C G D
So in grand design, with wisdom planned the universe in time C A G
To set the stage for God to satisfy His heart. Am C D G

2 From dust of earth the man He made
In His image and His likeness;
The breath of life to man He gave
Among creation he was matchless.
As God beheld the man, the same desire reflected!
The echo of His heart, the words He said:
"It is not good for man to be alone;
I will make for him a counterpart!"
Yet the animals and birds of heav'n, as Adam named each one,
There was not found a helper as his counterpart.

3 So God prepared for him a bride,
A slumber made to fall upon him,
And took a rib out from his side
And built the woman who would match him
As she was brought to man, the joy in God resounded!
He longed to say the words that Adam said,
"Bone of my bones and flesh of my flesh;
She will be for me a counterpart!"
Because out of man she was taken, united to be one,
The same as he in life to satisfy his heart.

4 Then God became a man in flesh,
The real Adam incarnated.
As Jesus lived, He found no rest
Until the cross's work completed.
The one grain fell and died to rise in resurrection,
Released His life, produced the many grains.
"Husbands love your wives, even as Christ
Loved the church and gave Himself for her."
Because out of Christ, water flowed out, imparted into us
To thus produce the church, which satisfies His heart.

5 And at the closing of this age,
When His bride has been perfected,
The romance from eternal days
Has its story consummated.
The Lord will come again, the church to Him presented;
And then at last, the words that He might say:
"Bone of My bones… flesh of My flesh…
The church at last shall be My counterpart!"
Because out of Christ, she was taken, united to be one,
The same as He in life to satisfy His heart!

LIFE IS WHAT WE REALLY NEED

We were once waste and empty
Living in sinfulness
Full of darkness and of death
We were so helpless
But then one day the Spirit of God came
Brooding over us
Generating, producing life and saving us from death

1. Let there be light-bearers in
the expanse of heav'n;
Lo! The stronger lights were made on the fourth day,
Def'nite lights on earth were giv'n.
Then came various forms of life,
Living creatures thrived.
With more shining light, more growth of life was wrought,
To the highest life arrived.

The sun, moon, stars—
Shine immersively;
How the divine life flourishes apace in me!
Till we become
Full-grown in Christ;
To maturity,
Growing more and more the same as He.

2. Light shines from the Sun so bright—
The effulgent Christ,
Who appeared to me in darkness as  great light,
To His glorious face enticed.
Light shines from the waxing moon,
She reflects the sun;
To the church I then must always stay attune,
Till the long dark night is gone.

3. Light shines from the dazzling stars—
Saints who overcome,
Shining as such luminaries in the world,
never to the dim succumb.
Let us then behold the Son,
With the church e'er one,
With the shining, living saints associate,
To the heav'nly lights relate.

4. Basking under sev'nfold light,
Though exposed I'll be;
I dare not hide from the rays in all its might,
Sep'rate from the dark I'll see.
Daily to the lights draw nigh,
Till the day dawns high;
And the morning star arises in our heart,
In the coming reign take part.

How we are saturated with God's glory so–
